Old fashion in modern times
In today out tomorrow?
Something we have heard throughout fashions history. But how true is it really? I mean it really only comes down to what the consumer is willing to buy and wear. But who controls this? Surely it isn't we the people as the consumer but really the celebrity designers who choose so carefully each year what will go down the runway.
Something anyone can learn from either the book or the movie The Devil Wears Prada, is that really everything eventually gets recycled. Everything.
Oh and did you think flip flops was new too?
Starting with the 50's it's been common to seem traces of a classic time in some of the finer pieces of fashion but also in some of the things are young adults these days. You might find something are a little familiar to look at. Back during this time, depending on the weather would be what you would wear much like today. Surprisingly short shorts are found in the 50's. In fact tummy revealing shirts are also found, although not quite so dramatic.
You would also find things like these old style bathing suits whether it be a two piece or one. How about the more popular hair wrap? The one with the little twist at the top, most people associate with gangs these days. All 50's baby. It came about during the war when they were promoting women as a more than just a housewife.
You think you started this?
The 60's were about the same. But here we notice changes in hair, makeup, color and texture in clothes. Teased hair, and dark eyes are not at all new in today's world. If anything really we don't pull it off very well. We can't even make our hair bump without having to go out and buy some foam hair piece to do it. Or what about even the way the hair is parted? All the same really.
The only thing that is different is the way it's put together. Now we tend mix more than match.
