Proactiv Day One: Does It Really Work?

Updated on May 24, 2016

Why did I decide to try Proactiv?

My skin type has always been oily and bad. I have had horrible acne on my face, chest, back, and shoulders. I am twenty-one years old and extremely embarrassed of my body due to the acne. I cannot wear tank tops or low cut v-necks because I have acne. I wear a lot of foundation to cover up the acne. My goal is to be able to go foundation free and have better skin. On Saturday, May 21st, I went to Akron with my boyfriend to tour the plant he works in. As I have mentioned previously on here, he is the most supportive and encouraging man. After touring his job and seeing what he does for a living as an electrical engineer, we stopped to eat and shop. I was complaining and feeling down about myself because of my weight and my acne, and he looked at me and told me he was going to help me change because it broke his heart seeing me so unhappy (after of course telling me that I was the most beautiful woman he has ever seen). We saw the little Proactiv vending machine in the mall and he purchased the original three step kit for me. Today, on Monday, I am starting my week with three major lifestyle goals. First, to try Proactiv. Second, to start Nutrisystem to lose weight before my two vacations this summer. Third, to pass my math praxis exam, which is one of the hardest exams in the nation. I can honestly say today I have started Proactiv, Nutrisystem, and have been studying for my huge exam.

What comes with the (original) 3 Step System?

The 3 Step System by Proactiv comes with:

Renewing Cleanser (Step 1)--------2 FL OZ

Revitalizing Toner (Step 2)---------2 FL OZ

Repairing Treatment (Step 3)---------1 FL OZ

Also, the kit I purchased came with a bonus. I received the Proactiv+ Skin Purifying Mask, which I have not used yet. The mask is 1 FL OZ of product. Also, when trying out new products, always avoid the skin around your eyes. Products can cause allergic reactions and it is crucial you avoid your eyes at all cost!!

I started off by washing my hands thoroughly. I then squeezed a pea size amount of the cleanser onto my hands. I rubbed the cleanser on my cheeks, chin, and forehead. I let the cleanser soak in my skin for about a minute, then got a warm washcloth to wash off the cleanser. I noticed with the cleanser that my skin began to tingle. However, it was not painful and did not burn, I assume that this was the product seeping into my skin.

I then got a cotton pad and squeezed a pea size amount onto the pad. i rubbed the pad on my cheeks, chin, and forehead. This product did not have any reaction to my skin. I did not feel it at all.

The final step of the kit is the repairing treatment, in which I squeezed a pea size amount and only put on the visible, large breakouts on my chin. I did not put this product all over my face, as this product is for target areas only.

All in all, I will keep trying Proactiv because I do believe it will help my skin. Hopefully I will see some major differences soon!

Below is a helpful video by a girl I follow on youtube. Her information was very helpful and she was one of the reasons why I decided to buy Proactiv!

I used Proactive almost 10 years ago and saw great results! Definitely got you into a routine with cleaning and medicating your skin. Hope you have great results as well!
