Product Review: Elta MD Intense Moisturizer
I've had rosacea for years and I never knew I had it. I went to the doctor and she said, "Your cheeks are looking really red. I think you might have rosacea." I never realized my face was red until she pointed it out. I scrolled though old photos on Facebook and realized I did have a red face. I've spent over $100.00USD on products to try to see if it would improve and this product is one of them. I scrolled on Google too see if there was any recommendations and Elta MD was one of them. I decided to try it for 2 months to see if I could see any sign of improvement.
The texture of this "lotion" is really odd. It's more like an ointment than anything else. I didn't like it right away, because it felt like applying Carmex on my face. I thought to use a smaller amount and it might help. I only used this product at night, because it left my face shiny. I just didn't like it at all, but if it worked, I wouldn't care about how it felt. I was so desperate to find a product, so I kept using it. I heard that your skin cells turn over after 90 days. Most people use a product for a few days and don't notice a difference. If you do use a product, try using it for 90 days and wait for your skin cells to turn over. Your skin will get used to the product and it might actually help.
After reading the back of the tube, I realized the main ingredient is petroleum jelly. Ugh, I didn't want an ointment. I thought it would be more like a lotion. I still continued to use this product even though I hated it so much. After the 90 days, my face was soft. The redness actually got worse, but it did help my dry skin. Out of a 5 star rating, I rate this product at a 2. My search continues for a new product and I'm still hopeful I might find something that can help the symptoms.
