Review of Maybelline Super Stay 24 hour Lipstick

Rose Dust shade

Maybelline Super Stay lipstick is a well known brand. The amount spent on advertising is reflected in the price. It's not the cheapest lipstick around, but there are plenty more expensive. If this item delivers the promise, you save time and energy checking in the mirror and re-applying your makeup.

This lipstick looks sleek and professional. Packaging is minimal. The dual ended product is a pleasing design, smooth yet curvy. One end is the actual lip colour, while the other is a lip balm to finish the look and feel of the cosmetic. The balm is available separately, which can be useful.

I found handling the product pleasant. It feels like some thought went into the design. The lipstick component has a nicely shaped wand for easy application, while the balm clicks smoothly into place, and is simple to wind in or out of the casing.

There is a wide range of shades to choose from in this product. I bought one that said it was a "favourite", indeed the slot was empty in three previous stores when I wanted to buy one. It is a little difficult to choose because the testers seem slightly different from the plastic block shade on display.

Having purchased my chosen lipstick, I went home to try it out in more natural lighting conditions than the store offered.

The lipstick wand made application smooth and easy. If you apply too much, make sure to quickly pat off excess with your finger before it starts to dry. The colour needs to settle for a minute or so, then starts to feel a little dry on your lips. This is where the balm comes into play. A quick touch makes the lipstick shine. It's simple to re-apply the balm without using a mirror to perk up the look of your lipstick, leaving your lips smooth and comfortable.

The tiny writing on the packaging and tube is hard to read. I had bought this shade previously, but had mistakenly replaced it with another shade due to 1) a change in product design, 2) store lighting affecting the appearance, 3) me not carrying reading spectacles while shopping.

Having thoroughly examined my recent purchase, I do think it's difficult to establish the shade for future reference - if, indeed I need to buy another before Maybelline re-design their product. There is a number on the end of the tube, but I found it hard to relate to the lipsticks in store. I was working from memory as the sticker had fallen off during use.

Durability

The product promotes itself as 24 hour wear. From experience, there are variables between shades. This shade is extremely durable. It lasts through mealtimes, many applications of lip balm, hot and cold drinks, teeth cleaning, mouthwash. It is impressive. Hats off to Maybelline.

If you do decide the lipstick needs a new coat, it's best to remove the original application first. A second coat doesn't go on as evenly.

In Conclusion

Once I found my chosen shade, the product was easy and pleasant to use. Long lasting, comfortable, no unwanted scents, good for lip condition when used with the balm. Top product.

My Rating of this Product

5 stars for Maybelline super stay 24hour lipstick

This should be the one for brides to use. Sounds like it is very strong. Nice review.

Answering the query in my own comment, above, Maybelline is no.1 top seller globally, selling in over 90 countries. Nothing like a bit of homework......

Thank you for the comment, carol7777. I published this hub and then my husband asked if it was available in other countries. Err....I certainly hope so! Pretty sure I've seen adverts for it with dollar signs. It can be a drag to keep re-applying makeup. Hope you find some in a shade you like.

I used to sell a product called Lipsense and it was very costly but had the same results. I am going to look for this Maybelline product..after all I get tired of re=applying..You did a great job.
