Use the right oils for your sauna

There are many health benefits you can gain from using a sauna, they have been used since roman times and are an excellent natural way to improve your health by stimulating perspiration that will cleanse your cells and pores. There are other ways that you can improve your sauna experience and gain additional health benefits. By using essential oils in your Sauna you will be able to treat a number of conditions or use them for relaxation purposes. If you have your own Sauna, you should review the different essential oils available and look at using different ones in your sauna depending on your ailments or if you want to use them to relax.

Here are the main Essential Oils and what they can treat

Eucalyptus oil

Eucalyptus oil is excellent in treating colds, cough and flu symptoms, its an antiseptic and is a refreshing oil that will wake you up.

Peppermint oil

Treats nausea, menstrual cramps, digestion problems and IBS

Tea Tree

Tea Tree is an antiseptic for treating warts, fungal infections, burns and cold sores.


Lemon is a purifier, excellent at detoxifying the blood and removing impurities, the fragrance is also very refreshing.


Lavender is a relaxing oil used for treating headaches, depression and dandruff.

Clary Sage

Clary Sage is excellent for treating depression, menstruation cramps and excellent for relaxation.

When using essential oils, ensure that you dilute it before using it on your sauna, use around four drops for each litre of water, one bottle of essential oil should last quite some time
