Short Layered Hairstyles Styling Options

Updated on August 14, 2009

Short Layered Hairstyles

Almost all the women of all ages are proud of their long hair. From the earliest women to the present generation, women think that having that mass of long hair on their top is the best thing to have. Many women actually don’t want to go for short hair for the fear that they are not going to look good. But the fact is that with proper styling, short hair can look fabulous! Short hair is easy to maintain and is healthier. There are a variety of short layered hairstyles with different styling options that can make women look younger.

The most popular short layered hairstyle is the short layered bob. There are many layers to it and using colors and highlights can accentuate the layers. Short hair can simply be washed and cut in the bob style to create a texture that looks complicated but stylish. To maximize the effect of a short layered bob cut, using a dryer and gel are the simplest options.

For women who love very short hair, a spiky haircut is a good option. Layers can be created while cutting the hair so that the hair at the bottom is short and hair at the top is long. This creates the spiky look. The need for maintenance is barely minimum and a gel can be used to maximize style. The added advantage of a spiky short layered hairstyle is that it makes women look taller and in some cases, makes their faces look thinner.

Popular Short Layered Hairstyles

A popular short layered hairstyle these days is where the hair is longer at the front than at the back. The longer hair at the front gives the impression of long hair while the shorter hair at the back means that there is minimum need for maintenance and it looks stylish. The longer in front short layered hairstyle is a combination of both long and short hair and is a modern style for many women. Another version of this style is where the hair is really cut short at the back and complimented with long bangs that sweep forward.

Curly hair is most difficult to manage. For women with curly hair, a short layered hairstyle is an ideal choice to create that look. There is no need for maintenance and the hair can be allowed to go wild. Curling is a good option even for those women with long hair who want to go for short layered hairstyles. They may even curl only the ends of the hair to create a bounce.

Simple layers on short hair can be flipped in or out to create different looks. With two to three layers, the top layer can be curled under or over.

Contrary to popular belief, blunt hairstyle can be applied to short hair also. One can go for eyebrow length bangs or completely but bluntly. This hairstyle creates messy look and looks good on some women.

Another well known short layered hairstyle is the mullet. Mullet hairstyle is short in the front and long in the back. It certainly looks different.

Short layered hairstyles can be adopted by any women and can create amazing fashion statements.
