Side effects : Hair Transplant

Updated on February 8, 2014

Any type of Aesthetic operation or cosmetic surgery will surely have some degree of hazard and risk associated with it. Hair transplantation operations  are no exception to this fact. Even as ultramodern technology and science has made this procedure unmistakably risk-less and  efficient, the infrequent issues may come up in a few patients. These fall-outs or side effects are mostly mild and irregular, but it is still sensible to fully look for every possible reaction to treatment. Getting aware about the risks involved can surely assist you to set up better for your hair transplantation surgery. By inquiring proper doubts  to your surgeon, you will be able to distinguish a basic, irregular and common side effect from a possibly more dangerous fallout.

Insignificant and irregular side effects of a hair transplantation surgery can let in headaches because of lugging and wangle of the scalp portion during the operation, a little  shedding of blood (which is common),  stiffness or scalp soreness and impermanent diluting of preceding hair.  Both diluting of pre-existing  hair and scalp soreness occur in almost 80-90% of hair transplantation operations, but these are just mild and temporary effects.  A different less usual fallout comprises puffiness and swelling which commonly happens around the eye region and the forehead.  Though the patient will feel a little irritation and soreness, the puffiness  generally ends in 2 to 5 days, and the surgeon can recommend you a medication for  reducing the effects of swelling.   A lot of patients may likewise feel an itchy scalp after the operation, which isn't  strange or a cause to get tensed.  Frequent use of shampoo for washing hair and applying saline solution to dampen the transplants generally helps to  cure this problem.

Hair Transplant Surgery : Side Effects

When you're thinking of having a hair transplantation surgery, I extremely advocate that you shouldn't solely focus on the final stage results. The surgeon or the doctor you enquire with must have demonstrated you the pictures of the piece of work that he has delivered. But you must remember the fact that the success of a majority of people in the hair transplantation doesn't assures that you too will get a sure success . In fact, a hair transplantation operation is an extremely invasive operation where things can turn awfully wrong. Following majority of the basic and most common fall-outs and hazards of a hair transplant surgical operation:

What are the Problems and Side Effects of Hair Transplantation?

An individual suffering from balding can acquire a lot of self-confidence by undergoing hair transplantation surgery. The operation is a moderately gentle one for the suffering patient. Nevertheless, there are a few common side-effects or problems which may occur and trouble you after the surgery.

1. Thinning of hair : If you have undergone a hair transplantation operation, you may be tensed if you observe that your pre-existing hair are getting diluted and becoming thinner. But don't worry, this is a common problem after the surgery. The heaviness and the thickness of the hair gets back within a couple of months after the treatment. Your hair thickness will be just as filled as it ever was.

2. Painful sensations : In reality, there's a very small pain in hair transplant surgery. Nearly half of the patients who have undergone the surgery won't require any pain relieving medications at all. Majority of others take a small dosage of a moderate power pain reliever for a few days, and that appears to be sufficient for curing their pain.

3. Soreness : A person who has undergone a hair transplantation surgery will experience soreness for many days after the operation. But this effect is also temporary and will cease gradually with time.

4. Itching in Scalp : It is the most common side effect which occurs in the regions affected by the transplantation surgery. But it shouldn't last for more than 4-5 days. If you will use saline solution or a shampoo to rinse your hair every frequently, then you will recover from this problem even more quickly.

5. Swelling : Swelling and puffiness on the forehead and near the ey region is also a common side effect of the hair transplant surgery . But there's nothing to worry in this, it generally lasts only for a couple of days. A few people may also develop a black eye as an extended consequence of this side-effect.

6. Bleeding : The hair transplantation will probably cause a little shedding of blood. But If you will apply force and pressure on the bleeding region, the bleeding will generally cease. In scarce cases, the bleeding doesn't ceases by this method. In those cases, it may be essential for the doctor to make some extra stitches to fill up the wounds.

7. Infections : Occurrence of any Infections is a very scarce thing with a hair transplant surgery, but it doesn't mean that they can not happen. One reason they don't occur is that antibiotic drugs are given prior to and at the end of the operation to forbid infections from even beginning.

8. Hiccups : Strangely enough, one of the funny side-effect of the hair transplantation is getting hiccups after the surgery. Tough this problem is very rare to find and there's a very little probability of just 5% of the total treated patients to get this side-effect, but it can also be a matter of worry if it remains for more than a couple of days. It may hold you away from sleeping and eating decently. Generally, surgeons have medicines which they can recommend to aid with this problem.

9. Cysts : Cysts can arise in the regions where the hair is being grafted to, also known as the recipient regions. These cysts don't generally last more than a couple of weeks and are scarcely greater than the size of little acne.

10. Scarring : If you suffer from scarring after the hair transplantation operation, it's likely because you're genetically tended to induce it. Very rarely, the people suffer from scarring problem after the surgery. This scarring process occurs in the form of ridges.

11. Strained appearing clusters of hair :
In very rare cases, the hair transplantation will not give the outcomes that you desired it would. This is generally not a problem now with the enhanced and advanced hair transplantation operations and is generally related with older processes.

The above mentioned risks and side-effects of the hair transplant surgery are not peculiarly hard and troublesome for the patient who suffers from them. They're mostly equivalent insignificant troubles for a majority of people. The most significant and good thing related to these side-effects is that almost each of them will cease in just a couple of weeks or a small time.
