The following tips below all make use of natural ingredients that are very common yet effective.

Cucumber has many benefits to offer you in terms of blemish-free, glowing skin. It is perfect for those with sensitive skin. You will be using blended or grated un peeled cucumber for these recipes

  • As a cleanser:

The difference will be obvious after you cleanse your skin this way.

To the cucumber, add a few drops of lemon or tomato juice(omit this if you have sensitive skin) and a bit of Aloe Vera gel (optional). Mix well with a spoon. Dab on to your face with cotton and leave it on for 3-5 minutes. Rinse with cool water and pat dry. The cucumber will soothe your skin and clean the pores as well as add moisture to it.

  • As a Moisturizer:

With the moisturizing properties of honey or glycerin and egg yolk, your face will thank you for it by being radiant.

Add a few drops of glycerine or honey to the cucumber, stir in a bit of egg yolk. Mix well then add a few drops of essential oil (optional) of your choice. Smear onto your skin with your fingers and leave on for 3-5 minutes. Rinse with cool water and pat dry.

  • As a face mask:

The egg white in this recipe gives your face a lift and un clogs as well as tightens the pores, giving you skin that breaths.

Beat an egg white with a fork, add in the cucumber, and a little fuller’s earth (optional) or a little honey. Stir well and apply onto your face. Leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse and pat dry. You can lay down and put slices of cucumber on both eyes whilst waiting for the mask to work its magic.

Loaded with minerals and vitamins, this kitchen commodity is a gem when it comes to skin and hair care. You will be using mashed ripe or over ripe avocado with the pit removed for the following:

  • Hair conditioner:

Damaged, dry or thin hair gets a new life and bounce with this homemade conditioner.

Add to the avocado 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 egg, 2 tablespoons lemon juice and 3 tablespoons of yoghurt. Message this mixture into the hair roots as well as the full length of hair down to the ends. Put on a shower cap and rinse off after an hour. Shampoo as usual. Do this atleast once a week for amazing results.

  • Eye and lip cream:

Chapped, dark lips from the over-use of cosmetics and dark circles under the eyes show improvement after the continuous use of this quick, inexpensive treatment.

Mix a few drops of lemon to the avocado. Add in the juice of watermelon or strawberry paste (optional). Dab onto the eyelids and beneath the eyes as well as the lips. Rinse of after ten-fifteen minutes.

Lemon/lime has an old reputation for cleaning things till they shine, and it has the same advantage when used in beauty treatments. The juice squeezed out of the lemon/lime will be used:

  • Teeth whitener:

Your teeth will look whiter and any unpleasant odor will be eliminated quickly and easily.

Mix a pinch of salt to the juice. After brushing your teeth as usual, pour this mixture on your tooth brush after rinsing it clean. Brush again like you normally do, then rinse out your mouth with water. The taste of the mixture might be sour but thats because of the citric acid in it. This should not be used more than 2 times a week.

  • Hair rinse:

Dull, limp hair will have a shine in no time if used regularly.

After shampooing and conditioning your hair, Add the juice of half a lemon if you have short hair or a full one for long hair to a cup of water. Use it to rinse out your hair. Then dry as usual. You can do this three times a week.

  • Body Scrub:

Say goodbye to dead, flaky skin and get ready to see new, fresh skin in its place.

Add a few tablespoons of salt enough for your body to the lemon/lime juice. Add a bit of honey or glycerin and mix well. Wet your body a little, and then scrub each part of the body for a few seconds with this mixture. Wash it off by bathing or showering. Pat dry and moisturize as usual.

  • Toner:

Skin which is clean as well has moisturized is the best, and this toner gives you just that, because the lemon/lime juice does an excellent job of keeping the skin clean whist the yoghurt makes the skin soft and supple.

Mix a 2 tablespoons of yoghurt to the juice. With cotton, apply onto face and neck region, rinse after 5 minutes and pat dry.
