Swishing - the answer to environmentally friendly fashion!

Swishing is the new phenomenon of recycled fashion that is reaching all corners of the world. What could be more perfect than a night in with your friends whilst perusing beautiful shoes, accessories and clothes, all whilst being good to the environment!

More and more people are becoming environmentally aware when it come to buying their clothes. This greater environmental responsibility combined with the current economic hardship has provided a perfect climate for a rise in fashion customisation, recycled clothing and the Swishing Party!

Swishing is the answer to all your fashion and money worries and can also be an excellent way of raising money for charity. Organise your own Swishing party now! Here's how to do it:

Swishing Parties- the fashion night in!

The Swishing Party - What you need!

To host your own Swishing party you need the following:

A venue (normally the host's house)

Friends (the more the better)

Some clothes, shoes or accessories that you no longer wear

The Swishing Party - How it works

The fantastic thing about a Swishing party is that you can go home with a whole new wardrobe, absolutely free. The idea of the party is that each guest brings along a few items that they no longer want. The items should be of high quality rather than old cast offs. When guests arrive it is the role of the host to display the items as best you can. There is nothing better than transforming your front room into your own little boutique!

The party then is purely about clothes swapping. If you brought 2 items, you can take 2 away, for free! Ethical, fun and fabulous! It is at the discretion of the host whether you want to charge a small fee for the refreshments etc. Also, you can decide between you what you would like to do with any items that remain at the end of the night.

Swishing - Raising money for charity

Swishing has been adopted by a few charitys as a means of fundraising. It is a fabulous way to raise some cash for your chosen charity. The party will take exactly the same form as if entirely for fun, but as well as bringing clothes, guests make a donation. The larger the donation, the more amount of goodies they can take home. In a recent Swishing party I attended, we raised over $200 for breast cancer and I went home with a new party dress and knitted summer dress. We even managed to sell the remaining items to add to the fundraising total. Excellent feel good evening!

Swshing - new ideas!

There are more and more Swishing events happening around the globe now, with evenings being held in bars and restaurants as well as in peoples homes. Spread the word about Swishing hold you own party and who knows where it may lead. Turn it into an annual event, 'swish' for Christmas presents or for anything that comes to mind!....It's fun, good for the environment and cheap. Wear your new fashion with pride!.....SWISH!
