How To Keep Your Teeth/Mouth Health

Mouth
The mouth is the gateway to the body system; therefore the important of a healthy mouth cannot be over emphasized. There is a saying that “when the eyes cries the nose also cry” and that means that every part of the body system compliment each other. Whenever any part of the body system is not functioning properly it affect others.

Functions of the Mouth/Teeth
The mouth is the first digestive system because chewing helps in cutting the food we eat into smaller pieces making it easy to be swallowed.

Smile is the mirror to the world, and the mouth is used to smile and laugh.

It is used to express feelings because without the teeth, some speech will not be possible to express.

The four Quadrant of the Teeth
The tooth is divided into four parts namely: -
Dot teeth
Canal Teeth
Premolars and
Molars

Colours of the Gum
The normal colour of the gum is Coral Pink though it varies from person to person. Note that if your gum is colourless or swollen, it is as a result of gum infection /disease.

Some Common Mouth/Teeth Diseases
There are different types of mouth/tooth related diseases, below are some of the most common of them.
Bleeding gum
This could be dangerous especially when it is as a result of gum related disease because if not taking care of could lead to heart disease according to Scottish study in 2010. Gum disease also add to the symptoms of type 2 diabetes in a patient who is suffering from gum disease as noted by researchers from Edinburgh University in 2010.

Causes of Bleeding Gum
Brushing your teeth with a hard toothbrush, thereby getting your gum injured on the process.

While tooth-picking, you can crash your gum.

Bleeding gum could be as a result of some medical condition like Cancer related diseases.

Hormonal change in women e.g. during pregnancy and menstruation you could experience bleeding gum, in this case there is no cause for alarm, if it persist for a longer period, you can see your doctor.

Bad Breath or Halitosis
This is a gum disease which could lead to psychological problem, it is embracing to notice that each time you open your mouth to speak; people will begin to pull away from you. It can become a problem that you may find it difficult to talk, laugh or express yourself in the public. And in this situation, your friends may find it very difficult to inform you about just for you not to feel embarrassed or even insulted.

According to the expert, It is caused by bacteria that grows in the mouth, which make breath to smell.

Causes of Bad Breath or Halitosis
According to the experts bad breath can be traced to the quantity of garlic, onions, fishes and oil intake of an individual.

Researchers also said that some medicines can cause bad breath, it is important to have knowledge of a particular medicine before taking them mostly those ones that are taken regularly.

Cut down the amount of intake of some food that can cause bad breath.

Brush the teeth properly and clean the tongue very well and also drink lots of water every day to keep your mouth fresh and for healthy living because water helps the body system a lot.

There are several things that should be avoided; they are listed below:-

Do not use a strong/hard toothbrush to brush your tooth.

Do not use toothpaste that does not have fluoride because fluoride is what keep your tooth healthy just as calorie is the energy in the food.

Do not toothpick to avoid crashing your gum, atimes while tooth-picking your find out that blood is coming out from your gum because you have crash part of your gum.


Do not close your teeth while brushing to avoid dumping the germs from the upper teeth to the lower teeth.
Mouth/Tooth Maintenance and Treatment
Use hot/cold water to wash your mouth after meal.

Brush your mouth and clean your tongue two times daily, morning and night preferably after diner.
