StyleMeUp: 5 Elegant Must-Haves for the Winters

Updated on April 1, 2016

With the winters approaching, you must be wondering what you should wear. I know you're all waiting for the sales to come so as to buy any shit that is priced lower than 10$. But let me tell you: that is the first mistake every shopper makes.

So here are 5 tips for you to remain warm in the winters. Elegantly. Because that gaudy pink sweater, no matter how cute, is just not elegant enough.

1. A Preppy Coat:

I am sure you all have one coat for the winters, but is it preppy enough? People make the mistake of buying lots of coats, all of them - cheap, and equally awful looking. So I would recommend investing in one good, elegant and stylish coat, preferably in a neutral colour like grey which can be worn in both a formal as well as in an informal outing.

2. A black Turtleneck:

Turtlenecks aren’t very expensive. You have a wide range of colours to select from, but if I were you, I would go for black because it goes with almost everything and it also makes you look thinner. You can pair it with simple blue jeans and still look elegant.

3. A pair of Ankle-length boots:

I know the idea of knee-length boots seem hotter given the fact that Serena van der Woodsen would wear them. But you’re not Serena van der Woodsen and 9 out 10; you would come across as a displaced cowboy. Which, trust me, is not elegant. And you can never go wrong with the ankle-length boots. However, while we are at this, I should warn you not to wear them with flared jeans or anything...flared. Team it up with a contrasting pair of jeggings or tight jeans and a long sweater and you’re ready for the winters.

Do you think you can pull off knee high boots?

4. A bright stole:

I am asking you to go for all sorts of neutral shades like blacks and greys because they are the most elegant. But too much of it can sometimes have an adverse effect. So for a pop of colour, go for a bright stole in pale pink. The best look would be to wear black jeans, a white top underneath a grey coat and wrap a pink stole around the neck.

5. A good Brown lipstick:

Well, you would think that when everything in the world is dull and drab, a pink pout is what you need. While you can go for a pink pout, I have never felt that pink lipstick would go with the entire elegant ensemble. Better yet, go for a brown one to keep it simple. And the rest of the face is best kept minimal.

Where to Buy these things?

If you can't find them in your local stores, then you can always switch to online shopping sites. It's also a lot cheaper online than in the stores. The downside? You really have to know your body shape and size well.

Happy Shopping.
