Top 5 Beauty Products I Can't Live Without

Updated on January 17, 2013

Best Beauty Products

My Favorite Beauty Products

Just like most girls and women of the world, I have my beauty tips and tricks. I also have a storehouse of essential products that I can't seem to live without. Want to step into my world a bit? I thought I'd show you what they are.

It's taken me a while to figure out what works for me and what doesn't. Not only that, but things constantly change in my world. So keep checking back - I may change my mind again. ;-)

Summary of My Favorite Beauty Products

I thought I would create a list with all of the products before I get into more detail.

  • Origins Ginger Products. This is one of my favorite smells. I use the body lotion and the perfume.
  • Origins Plantidote Mega Mushroom. Great for sensitive skin like mine! I use the whole product line, no exceptions.
  • Clarins UV Plus HP Day Screen SPF 40. This is my facial suncare product of choice. The mushroom face lotion I use doesn't have SPF!
  • Clinique Superbalanced Foundation. I use the oil free stuff. I've tried a lot of products and a lot of different formulas, and this is the one that looks the best.
  • Chanel Rouge Noir Number 18 Lipstick. This is my Power Color. Every woman needs a shade of red that makes her feel like a woman. This color can only be found in Europe. The US version is named Vamp and looks terrible on me.

When I pack my overnight back... all I need are these five things plus toothpaste and a toothbrush and a comb. They are my essentials. Do you have some essentials? Share them with me in the comments!

1. Origins Ginger Product Line

The first time I tried this scent it was a special edition for Christmas. I am completely thrilled that they put it in the regular product line. This is my go-to perfume (besides straight up vanilla). It reminds me of Christmas and I tend to use it most in winter. (I use beloved vanilla mostly in the summer).

I don't know. I may not think this is my favorite in a few months. But for right now, this is my favorite perfume! Perhaps when the weather gets much hotter I will have a different opinion.

2. Origins Plantidote Mega Mushroom

I mentioned I have sensitive skin. Well, it's a lot more than that. I actually have Rosacea. It seems to run in my family and I've had it since I was a teenager. I've managed to keep it under control with only slight flareups. However, my flareups for a while had increased in frequency.

That is, I had a lot of redness until I started using the Origins Plantidote Mega Mushroom products. Don't get me wrong. There isn't a cure for Rosacea. There's just the hope that you can find a series of great products.

If you have very sensitive skin, or if you just want a gentle, healthy cleanser - Origins Plantidote Mega Mushroom is a good one to try. I would give it at least two weeks so you can see if there is a difference.

3. Clarins UV Plus SPF 40

A few weeks ago, I got carded. Since it has been (ahem) some time since I turned 21, it shocked me. My sister had just gotten married and we were at the after party. I sprained my ankle Greek dancing, and my purse was in my car. The bartender actually made me wait for my husband to run to the car and get my ID. It was a bit dramatic, but also quite flattering.

She looked at the ID and said, "I never would have guessed. Whatever you have been doing, keep doing it." Well, I attribute the health and useful vitality of my skin largely to this product. I have been wearing sunscreen on my face nearly every day since I was 16. I started using the Clarins UV plus face serum ever since it debuted on the market. It not only protects against the sun, but also against environmental factors like pollution.

4. Clinique Superbalanced Foundation

Remember how I talked about the highly flattering event where I got carded when I am "most definitely not even close" to being 21? Well, I also attribute the success of my skin to the fact that I wear liquid foundation every day.

It sort of defies logic a little bit because the previously held belief is that makeup isn't good for your skin. But if you think about it, it really is logical. When your skin gets whipped by the wind or bombarded with smog, your foundation is there protecting the top layer of your skin. It acts like a first line of defense.

Plus, it makes you look better - particularly if it matches your skin. This is the color that matches mine the best, and the foundation formula that I like the best.

5. Chanel Rouge Noir 18 - My Favorite Red Lipstick

This is the best lipstick shade ever. I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but I supposedly just found it on Amazon. This particular color is only available in Europe.

I was fooled only once and I won't make that mistake again. Number 18 is Vamp in the United States - a color that makes me feel like a glowing reddish purple Crayon.

One time when I wore my Power Chanel 18 Lipstick someone asked me if I was a movie star. Hey, I'd like to take the credit, but it really was the lipstick.

Let's see... Glowing Crayon Vs. Movie Star. Which will you choose?
