A Color Block Dress that is A Miracle

Takes 10 Pounds Off Instantly

Some has called this dress the fashion miracle. Just one look at this little frocks features, its easy to understand why wearing this style will make you appear roughly 2 sizes smaller. Its all in the way the colors create the illusion of a narrow waist and by elongating the torso using color blocking. The results create the illusion is that you look 10 pounds less then you truly are.

Heads were turning when Kate Winslet turned up at the Venice Film Festival in September 2011 wearing the Stella McCartney’s new color-blocked Bicolour Octavia dress. The dress part of her fall collection is one of the “optical illusion” dresses that focuses the eye on a front panel while its black colored sides seem to disappear, creating a smaller waistline.

“It’s like retouching your body with a frock,” celebrity stylist June Ambrose told the New York Post.

How much would you spend to look two sizes smaller in an instant?

If you are like me and dont have the $1595.00 to shell out for the Stella McCartney "Miracle Dress"— there are already the best knock offs you can get for under $100. One thing to know in getting the miracle from this party dress is that you need the fabric made from a sturdy cotton stretch fabric. This body conscious dress will pull all of you in just like a scuba suit only this one is pretty! But just like a scuba suit it sucks in all the unsightly bits that are most female nightmares.

Anyway, in case you can't find the Stella McCartney dress (we're pretty sure it's already sold out) or don't want to shell out the big bucks, there are some the cutest knock-offs—over at amazon. Be it a party dress from Motel or one of the stunning sheaths from BCBG if its color blocked colors are vertical with long blocks of shape, these choices really are just like the Stella dress.

The Miracle Dress

Colorblock Sheath by Andrew Marc

Look for strong fabrics such as stretch polyester, heavy jersey or neoprene as these will create the snug effect. Turn to the new leather otherwise known as neoprene. It not only makes you look slimmer it also feels good. Unlike its counterpart leather, neoprene it retracts where leather stretches.

Paneled illusion dresses, a la Kate Winslet, are the miracle dress of the year . And yes they make you look like you have an hourglass figure, instantly. Bottom line color block dresses make you look slimmer than what you truly are. Now what female wouldn't consider that a miracle.

Andrew Mark hits the mark with this

  • Very chic style sheath dress that features color blocking and zipper details on front and back.
  • Take 10 pounds off with this ready to go anywhere dress

Crosby Derek Lam

Color Block Dress

Stella McCartney’s ‘Miracle Dress’ Is A Simple Illusion and this Crosby Derek Lam go to fabulous dress is all that and more. Casual and sexy makes it easy to wear. Once you put it on you will have to agree that is hard not to look pretty in this colorblock dress. Features saturated hues with slimming colors in blocks making it the perfect body embracing design.Perfect with mixed chain necklaces and studded platform sandals. The lightweight feeling makes this dress casual enough for everyday, but is still dressy for formal events. My favorite in the collection for any dress with pockets is the one I will choose!

I have heard the term bodycon used for this style of fashion frock, Its supposed to be a short term for those that are body conscious, and to be quite honest one would have to have some serious bad eyesight if they didnt see that the female wearing this has a good conscious when it comes to her body, Daring and delightful is how you will fell in this winner.

How to Dress Using Illusions of Color

Ladies this look doesnt end with a dress. You can also use the thinking behind this sheath concept to enhance your figure when dressing for any occasion.

Just remember to layer your dark pieces on the outside and wear a bolder colors on the inside. This will give that illusion of shading which is what makes the item create the thinner illusion. Cinch a thin sweater with a dark-colored belt and you complete the effect.

Scarves are also a handy accessory for creating the look. All you need to do is Lay the scarf along the side of the body, drape it over the shoulder and cinch it with a subtle belt. Illusion created and ten pounds are taken away from the eye!

Right now the only retractable fabric I'm wearing is an ace wrap and boot over a broken ankle, but I enjoyed your hub. Thanks for the fashion ideas.
