The Perfect Daytime Neutral Eye Look
Sephora Eye Shadows
The perfect daytime neutral eye look can be very difficult to achieve. However, after using countless amounts of products and eye palettes, I have finally found the palette that provides me with my favorite daytime neutral eye look.
Sephora has palettes galore, all large and mostly expensive (for a price comparison on the various palettes mentioned in this article, see the table below). However, after having used all of the Naked palettes, I honestly thought the quality of the eye shadow was not worth the price. The eye shadow creased very easily on me. When I went to my local Sephora last winter, I discovered the travel section. The travel section is a nice way of trying all of the expensive products out because it sells cheaper, smaller portions of makeup products. In the travel section, they have a travel palette of the Smashbox Full Exposure for $24. I immediately picked that up and have not stopped using it since.
The travel size Smashbox Full Exposure has eight eye shadows; four shimmer, four matte. It contains a chocolate brown shimmer, a golden peach shimmer, a champagne shimmer, and a dark silver shimmer. For the mattes, you get a chocolate brown, a peach (perfect for the crease), a light beige (perfect for the lid), and a dark brown with cool undertones. The palette has the most highly rated main colors from the full size palette. Personally, I love this palette because it is sleek, small, and it fits in my purse for use on the go. Plus, I prefer Smashbox shadows over MAC, Urban Decay, and Maybelline. Smashbox eye shadows do not crease and last me all day.
How I wear my daytime look is very simple with this palette. First, I prime my eye lids using any primer. The primer I am currently using is a trial size of the Benefit Stay Don't Stray primer. Next, I take a large shadow brush and dip it into the matte beige color. I put that on my lid and blend it to make everything smooth and even. Then, taking a crease brush, I dip that into the matte peach shade. I blow off any excess before going into my crease. Once applied to the crease, I blend until the shadow is completely evened out, and I do not see any harsh lines. Next, I take my Tarte Tarteist Liner ($24 at Sephora, which also comes with a brush for application), and squeeze out the gel. I apply this to my upper lid and get as close to my lash line as possible. Doing a wing is optional, I personally rarely do a wing because I feel it does not look flattering on me. Next, I apply one to two coats of mascara. I prefer Lush's Eyes Right mascara, which is all natural and does not take out my lashes.
If you are in the market for a new eye palette for daytime, I highly suggest the travel size of the Smashbox Full Exposure. It is cheap, and the colors are perfectly pigmented, plus it lasts all day into the night, and the shadows do not irritate your eyes.
