One popular Polynesian and Hawaiian tattoo is the tiki tattoo. Tiki tattoos originate from tiki art. Tiki art consist of carvings and statues of a human figure called a "tiki." In Polynesian mythology, the tiki is believed to be the first human. The tiki was also considered to be an ancestor of humans. Tiki tattoos can be worn by both men and women. Since tiki statues represent the embodiment of a god, some tiki tattoos are of a certain god. In such cases, there are certain features that one god may have over another. If you are wanting a tiki tattoo of a certain tiki god, I would advise you to do research on Polynesian tiki mythology.

For those of you that are looking for specific tiki god tattoos, you may want to look at the popular Hawaiian tiki gods. Although there are many gods dipicted in Polynesian mythology, there are four that stand out in the Hawaiian culture. Ku, Kanaloa, Kane, and Lono are very popular in this culture. They can be chosen for a tiki tattoo if your interested in portraying a specific tiki god. Ku is the god of war. Kanaloa is the god of the sea. Lono is the god of fertility. Kane is the most powerful god in the Hawaiian culture. Kane is responsible for all that is created. Kane was the first tiki.

There are a variety of elements and symbols that can be designed with your tiki statue. To be honest, anything in the Polynesian and Hawaiian culture can be tattooed with tiki statues. If your interested in a Hawaiian tiki, you may want to have your tiki portrayed by a volcano. In such cases, the tiki may have the eyes of a red jewel and make have smoke coming from its mouth. Palm trees are commonly portrayed in tiki tattoos, as well as water.

If your interested in the tiki tattoo, make sure you take the time to view all the different images in this article. This is a great way to pick up ideas for your own tiki tattoo. Tiki tattoo designs may be done in Polynesian art or Hawaiian art. You can add Polynesian symbols as well as Hawaiian symbols. Some tiki tattoo designs portray the tiki with a skull or spear. Most tiki tattoos portray the tiki with an evil look. However, others may portray the tiki with a smile.

Before you get your tattoo, make sure this is really what you want. Take the time to research your tattoo and make sure you completely know what it represents. Remember, you are going to wear this tattoo for the rest of your life. Tiki tattoos can represent qualities of the tiki god that is portrayed.
