Painting the Town Pink! Trendy Tips to Help You Infuse the Color Pink in Your Wardrobe

Updated on August 27, 2014

In a previous hub of mine, I divulged the details of my ‘how-I-started-loving-pink’ experience. In my not so pink days, my wardrobe amply reflected my love for soberness and sobriety. I would swear by all things blue, brown and black, maybe the occasional bottle green, but nothing more shocking than that. After my pink experiment (that’s what I like to call it), I realize I’ve become a lot more tolerant towards bold, bright colors. In fact, I’ve gone a step ahead and started infusing these colors into my wardrobe. Let me tell you guys, bright, bold colors really bring about a difference, not just in your appearance, but in your mood and confidence levels as well. (By difference I mean good difference) So, happy with my experience, I decided to dedicate a hub towards suggesting ways in which you can make the ‘bland to bright’ switch, using the color pink. Hope you find it useful!

Pink Lips and Tips

One of the most delightful ways to introduce the color pink to your wardrobe is to get hold of hot pink nail polish and lipstick. This zesty, vibrant color looks great when set against a plain or pale background. So, go easy on the rest of your makeup and the colors you choose to wear. Let the splash of color come from your pink lipstick and nail polish. There are several shades of pink you can choose from. The more courageous of us can opt for a neon pink shade, whilst the more cautious ones could choose a lighter or coral pink shade. Maybelline New York has come up with attractive pink shades in their Pink Alert Lipsticks by Color Sensational range. They also have a couple of interesting nail shades in their Color Show Nail Color range.

LPD (Little Pink Dress) / Hot Pink Pants

This is a trend that is quite in the limelight these days. LPDs are great for a night about town. They are bright, peppy and stylish. Experiment with shades, patterns and lengths. When you wear a pink dress however, be careful of the color of your shoes and accessories. It’s advisable to opt for something that is mellow, on the color, as well as on the pattern front. Don’t wear colors that are too loud as this will clash with the color of your dress and you might just end up looking like a cheerful, colourful, clown. Similarly, with hot pink pants, opt for self-colored, pale colored or chequered tops. Go light on your shoes, makeup and accessories.

Jewelry / Scarves:

Pink jewelry and scarves are a great way to infuse the color pink into your overall look. This trend can help spice up casual, daily wear outfits. A bright pink scarf adds eye-catching style to a casual jeans and t-shirt look. Similarly, bright pink accessories are perfect to spice up a summer dress or the shirt and shorts attire. Opt for chunky bracelets and statement necklaces. Remember, when it comes to jewelry, the chunkier and brighter, the better.

Pink Bag / Shoes:

Carrying a pink bag or wearing hot pink heels can really spice up your look. Again, choose a lighter, plain palette when it comes to your clothes. Experiment with heel heights and patterns. Similarly, there are several kinds of bags available, from handbags to clutches to slings. Coordinate your bag with the clothes you’re wearing. For e.g., a pink sling bag goes really well with jeans and a casual, self-colored t-shirt. A pink clutch adds oomph to an LBD and a pink handbag can be paired with subtle-colored formals.

Hi DDE! Thanks for your appreciative words. Pink is a lovely, versatile color. Although it's usually thought of as a 'girly' color, it can actually be interpreted in so many ways. :)
