Updated on May 17, 2015

Dark Underarms No More

There are many reasons why some people have dark underarms. Some contributing factors may be age, hormones, and excessive sweating. The most common reason why underarms are dark is because of excessive sweating. As a matter of fact, the sweat never really dries out in the underarms and since it secretes uric acid, your underarms will darken over time. Deodorants and genetics also play a role on dark underarms. However, worry not because there are solutions to this problem.

The dark color of your underarms is not a medical condition. There are several factors that contribute to the darkening of the underarms such as the following:

Ways to Lighten Dark Underarms

Dark underarms can be a cause of embarrassment that leads a person to avoid wearing sleeveless clothes and swimsuits.

But there are many ways that you can lighten dark underarms.

1. Wash your underarms with soap and warm water. Poor hygiene can cause dirt and oil to accumulate.

2. Avoid the use of hair removing creams and eventually you will notice that your underarms will start to lighten. These hair removing agents contain acids that can darken the skin.

3. Wearing tight hugging clothes can blacken underarms.

4. Shave less often since this can also cause underarm darkening. When shaving, the skin beneath is removed and the new skin is exposed which darkens when your underarms sweat.

5. Another option is waxing to remove unwanted hair and prevent skin darkening.

6. Cut a lemon and rub one of the wedges to the dark underarms. Let the juice dry. Do this twice a day.

7. Apple cider vinegar can help whiten the underarms. Wash and dry your underarms and apply apple cider vinegar. Do not rinse off. Repeat for a number of weeks.

8. Mix baking soda and apple cider vinegar. You will notice bubbling. Just wait for it to stop and then apply the mixture to your underarms. Dry and wash off.

Nice Tips sir. I used to pluck my underarms to remove the hair but after a while of doing so it looked swollen and rough so I switched to shaving with a razor but then I noticed that my armpits were shades darker than before. Now I apply 'Qraa Underarm Whitening Cream' and it really works for me..
