Top 5 Anti-Aging Serums

Updated on December 10, 2018

Beauty experts advise jumping on the anti-aging bandwagon in your late 20s or early 30s. The sooner the better, they say. It is always good to be ahead of the game to fight the signs of aging as they gradually occur. Luckily,, the anti aging segment is growing by leaps and bounds and formulations are being improved like never before.

There's no guarantee that any of these top 5 anti-aging serums will dramatically turn back the hands of time but they can soften those pesky fine lines, minimize the look of enlarged pores and improve uneven skin tone which is often associated with aging. Here's the really good news--most of these products are drugstore brands and won’t break the bank.

You'll never look 18 again, but these anti aging serums can turn back the clock a little!

1. Avon ANEW ULTIMATE Age Repair Elixir

Most reviews of this anti-aging serum are positive. If used for an entire month you should be pleasantly surprised with the results. Enlarged pores seemed visibly reduced within two weeks. No product will ever permanently shrink pore size but it made large pores less noticeable which is a huge deal. Fine lines around the mouth and eyes quickly diminish. Dull aging skin will look miraculously brighter and clearer when used over time.

The main gripes about Avon's serum are regarding the bottle and complaints of allergic dermatitis. With respect to the bottle you can't see how much product has been used and can't remove the top to get the last remaining serum out. That's something you'll have to put up with unless they decide to redesign the bottle. There were no issues with swelling or rashes. Make note that a little of this silky serum goes a long way. If you use too much twice a day the tiny 1 oz. bottle won’t last very long.

2. StriVectin Overnight Facial Resurfacing Serum

This is a favorite among a number of celebrities. StriVectin Overnight Facial Resurfacing Serum is not your ordinary anti-aging serum. This StriVectin product exfoliates your skin while you sleep. In fact, the manufacturer claims it's just like “sleep in a bottle”—so who could possibly resist giving it a try?

The stellar review of this serum comes from Cosmopolitan magazine’s website. The serum was first introduced in the UK and deemed an overnight hit. Stores could not keep it on the shelves. The good news is it is now available in the States.

Apply this magic leave-on treatment under your moisturizer at bedtime. The plant-based exfoliants are gentle and non-drying to the skin but tough enough to remove dead skin cells that are the root of many skin problems. You probably won’t look 20 again but your dull complexion, dry patches, fine lines and uneven skin tone will be replaced with smoother, radiant skin. Sounds like this one is definitely worth a go.

3. Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum

Olay products are popular and have been around for years. For the most part, we were pleased with the product and especially the price point of the Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum. Although it's a premium line, compared to department store brands this is a steal.

This lightweight serum feels silky when applied. It is ultra smooth and provides a flawless finish if you wish to follow up with your foundation. Foundations aren't great for aging skin so it's best to simply apply a light dusting of translucent finishing powder and a little blush to create a younger appearance.

The claim of reducing fine lines wasn't as noticeable as the Avon product. However, there was a significant difference in overall skin appearance. Uneven areas and dry splotches disappeared once the serum soaked into the skin.

4. Boots No. 7 Protect and Perfect Intense Beauty Serum

Boots skincare line has made its way across the pond. Their pore refiner has been a big hit for number of years. Added to the list of favorites is Protect and Perfect Intense Beauty Serum.

The British Journal of Dermatology published the results of a 12-month clinical trial in which participants actually witnessed an improvement in facial wrinkles. It is a legitimate study published in the August 2009 edition of the journal.

This anti-ager is specially formulated to fight and lessen the look of fine lines and wrinkles and actually lives up to the hype. When you apply the satiny serum you will notice a difference in your skin texture right away. The price is reasonable and worth trying for a number of months to see if it works for you. Use it twice a day along with your usual day and nighttime moisturizers.

5. Genie Instant Line Smoother

If you're not willing to pay the price for cosmetic surgery to look younger then try this little face lift in a bottle to smooth out wrinkles and firm up your face and neck. This is not technically a serum designed for long-term anti-aging results. Genie Instant Line Smoother is a quick fix that fills in lines and wrinkles. It also reduces under eye bags and puffiness while firming the face and neck area.

This smoothing serum is perfect for a special event or evening out but don’t expect an all day “lift”. It’s hypoallergenic so allergic reactions should not be an issue. Combine Genie Instant Line Smoother with your usual foundation or wear it over your makeup. It is light enough go it alone for an au naturale look.

Vespawoolf, there are so many anti-aging products on the market, it is difficult to wade through them all to find the right one. Hopefully my research and reviews helped narrow the search a bit! :)

ShineBright, I will definitely have to investigate Avon's Ultimate Regimen. Sounds like a winner along with the Reversalist Emulsion. Glad you enjoyed this Hub and thank you for the additional tips re Avon products. They've sure come a long way since my mother sold them in the 70s. Their anti-aging products get consistently high reviews.

Great article, thanks! I was watching dr. Ozz and he talked so highly of AVons anew re~texturizing peel. I'm 35 I started trying, it makes my skin feel great and is meant to be used with your Ultimate regimen. I use twice a week. There are 30 pads so It will last a long time. Also, the platinum eye and lip cream, I've been to our Avon meetings and my customers now love this of all ages! you should do a review of the reversalist ,,, it is for us in 40 range, l0ve it! My mom uses the ultimate too., have you started to include the reversalist emulsion? It's shiny and smooth you put on instead of the serum (my mom prefers the emulsion, it's in jar like to serum but you see exactly how much you have. I love anew I just wanted to share! And there is the new anew genetics I have only tried samples,, lovely eye cream!
