Turtle Tattoos And Turtle Tattoo Designs

When it comes to graceful aquatic animals, none may be more so then the turtle. Turtle are seen as peaceful and graceful creatures. Turtles can be found in rivers, ponds, oceans, and streams all across the world. Since the turtle is found all across the globe, turtles are often associated to a variety of different cultures. This is one reason why the turtle tattoo is popular. As a tattoo and in life, the turtle remains one of the most symbolic creatures in the world.

Turtle tattoos can be done in a variety of different ways. When it comes to turtle tattoo designs, there can be a lot of options to weigh out. Turtles are a common symbol in Hawaiian tattoo designs and Pacific tattoo designs, usually done in black ink. However, some people may choose to brighten their turtle tattoo with exotic colors native to the Pacific. Turtle tattoos can either portray the entire turtle, the front half of the turtle, or the turtle shell. Turtle shells are often decorated in Pacific art. There are many different ways for you to create the perfect tattoo when it comes to this design.

Turtle tattoos can be portrayed in different ways as well. Turtle tattoos can be portrayed to look realistic or they can be portrayed as cartoon tattoos. Realistic turtle tattoos look really good when they are done correctly and in great detail. This design is usually chosen for the detail of the tattoo. To give the turtle tattoo more of a girlish and cute look, turtle tattoos can be done in cartoon designs also. Turtle tattoos can also be portrayed as an outline design. This tattoo design portrays the outer shape of the turtle and it is often decorated with art or other symbols.

Since the turtle is found all across the world, there are a variety of different cultural associations linked to the turtle. One of the most common cultural associations of the turtle is from Pacific cultures, such as the Hawaiians and Polynesians. These Pacific cultures believed that the turtle symbolized calmness, serenity, and tranquility. They viewed the turtle as a peaceful creature of the waters. The turtle is also symbolic to some Native American tribes. These tribes believed that turtles took part in creating the Earth. Due to this, you may see Native American tattoo designs with the turtle.

Turtle tattoo designs are designed in many styles and variations. Turtle tattoo designs may portray the turtle to look realistic or you may see a tribal turtle tattoo design. Turtle designs may depict only the turtle or other symbols and elements may be added. Turtle tattoos can come in several different sizes and colors. Turtles are a great design to work with, perfect for the tattoo artist and the wearer. It all depends on what your looking for. Turtles are graceful creatures, beautiful, and elegant. They offer the wearer protection.

TriDiva, thanks for the comment. LOL!! That would be something special! Everyone of my tattoos are meaningful and I always tell people the same. I like the colors of turtle tattoos, turtle tattoo designs. I prefer sea turtle tattoos, but as long as there's good detail, they all look great. Glad you found a meaningful tattoo, always follow your heart in everything.

Wow, I had no idea there was so much meaning attached to turtles! I only recently toyed with the idea of getting a turtle tattoo because I started doing triathlons a couple years ago and I'm very slow, often finishing last. But my mantra is "slow and steady, wins the race" from "The Tortoise and the Hare." So I persevere and always finish. The key component behind all endurance sports is to FINISH. Looks like I just found my new tattoo! :-)

My father's nickname for me was "Turtle". No one else has ever been allowed to call me that besides him. He passed away around a yr. ago. I am 63 yrs. old and I am going to get my first tattoo in a personal tribute to my dad. I quit smoking for my mom. These pics are great, I am now more determined than ever to get my tattoo. Thank you again from, a devoted daughter.

Very interesting hub on a hot topic -- tattooing. I never realized the turtle was such a popular subject in tattoos, but after seeing the beautiful pictures you posted I can see why. My grandson has a thing for turtles and wants a turtle cake for his third birthday! Happy turtle tattooing. (I have one small tattoo and that's it for me.) Voted up and interesting. Thanks for SHARING.

I don't have a tattoo but there have been many many times I've thought about getting one. IF I ever get "inked" I will get a four-leaf clover to symbolize my Irish heritage or a TURTLE!! I love turtles and have them all over the house and I even have one hanging from my rearview mirror in my truck :) I see about 12 designs here that I would consider getting.

Excellent Hub. Voted up and shared. I've seen several turtle tattoos but had no idea of all the different meanings.

On a side note, I'm getting tattoo number four next month-- a memorial piece for my uncle-- and it will be my first animal (A buzzard, since that was my uncle's nickname. He ran a camp and that was name he chose for himself. Plus, he kind of resembled a buzzard.)

      Thanks for this. Well done

Another awesome hub TLW! It doesn't surprise me that so many people go for a turtle tattoo - they really are majestic and awesome animals, especially when you see them in the ocean.

When you watch them you do feel calm and totally absorbed into nature.

This was really fascinating and beautiful photos of the tatoos! Voted up!

      Hi Lyricwriter,

I like what the turtle tattoo represents. I remember a show when I was kid, called Razzle Dazzle. It's main character was Howard the Turtle.

      Voted up and awesome.

I hope all is well with you my friend.
