Heels are those shoes which are elevated from the back and lift the foot above from the ground. Heels can be of different types and height. Many different types of shoes come under this category.

Flats can be any shoes which do not have heels and which do not elevate the foot from the ground.

Many of the shoes fall strictly under the above two mentioned categories while some can be common among the both.

Pumps are a type of shoes which cover the foot from the front, back and both sides leaving the top open. Pumps can be flat or can have heels. The flat pumps can be made of micro fiber, leather or a thick cloth. They come in different colors and designs and there can be infinite variations made on them.

A common type of flat pumps is ballerina shoes which are very fine and extremely flat pumps used by ballet dancers. Flat pumps are very comfortable shoes to wear and go along almost every type of clothing.

Pumps with heels also vary. Some pumps have small square heels around 2-3 inches high while some have high pencil heels. Common types of heel pumps are the stilettos which have a very high heel and usually have an ankle strap.

There is also no chance of falling from wedges like there are in normal pointy heels. They are stable and stylish and can be of various sizes. They go best with all types of clothes.
