Valentine's Day Gifts: How to Find the Perfect Diamond Necklace, Earrings, and Jewelry

Updated on June 26, 2016

Are you looking for a good Valentine's Day gift for your girlfriend or wife? One of the best ways to tell your sweetheart "I love you" is to celebrate your love with diamonds or other jewelry. Your sweetheart can't resist the sparkle of a beautiful ring, necklace, bracelet, or earrings. Traditional Valentine's gifts are still some of the best gifts that you can send. Your sweetheart will love anything that tells her she's special, so surprise her with a special gift of diamond jewelry. Fancy boxes of chocolate, bouquets of flowers, and gifts of jewelry are romantic ways to win her heart. But diamonds are a girl's best friend.

Shop from a Reputable Jewelry Store

When shopping for diamonds, I highly recommend buying from a reputable online jeweler, such as Read reviews of various retailers, and visit the Better Business Bureau website.

The Four C's of Diamonds

When shopping for diamonds, pay attention to the four C's of diamonds: cut, carat, color, and clarity. We will address each of these factors in more detail. Quality dealers, such as, will openly share information about their products with you.

Cut: A diamond's cut depends upon your girl's personal preferences. Most women have a personal preference about the cut of her diamond; the cut simply defines a woman's style. Some of the options include the Asscher, cushion, emerald, marquise, heart, pear, princess, oval, radiant, and round.

Carat: This C refers simply to the weight of the diamond. Each diamond is weighed using a special measurement, the carat. It is a measurable unit that you can use to compare individual diamonds.

Color: When comparing the color a diamond, you actually want to find the diamond that has the least amount of color. Diamonds are ranked on a scale that begins with the letter D and continues to the letter Z. As the letters reach the end of the alphabet, the gem becomes more and more yellow. The closer to the end of the alphabet, the less desirable the stone. Thus, when you are shopping for a diamond, remember that the best diamonds have a color from D to H. They will become more yellow, and less expensive, as you surpass H.

Clarity: The clarity of the diamond reflects how much the gem will sparkle. As the stone becomes more clear, the jewel will appear more beautiful to your eye. The best and most clear diamonds have a clarity of IF. Once you reach I1, I2, or I3, the diamond will be less beautiful.

Simple Diamond Solitare Pendant

Simple yet elegant, this timeless necklace is perfect for every occasion. You can choose a gold, silver, or white gold chain. It works with every style, from a dressy work wardrobe to an elegant evening gown. You can even wear it with jeans and a flannel shirt. As with any diamond, the bigger the better. But this is the perfect Valentine's Day gift.

Diamond Engagement Rings

If you are ready to propose, Valentine's Day is the perfect time! Set up a romantic dinner, bring some wine, and play some soft romantic music. When you propose, bring out the diamond engagement ring of her dreams and make her the happiest woman in the world. Or, you can make the moment even more special and let her choose her own ring. Let her shop online or in local jewelry stores and pick out her favorite cut and setting. You simply can't go wrong with a diamond engagement ring.

Diamond Stud Earrings

Diamond stud earrings make a fantastic Valentine's Day gift. They are small and sparkly, and will make your sweetheart smile. Best of all, diamond earrings complement any outfit. Your lady can wear these breathtaking jewels for a night on the town, or she can dress down for a casual day. These earrings fit every occasion perfectly.

Another option is the classic and very elegant tennis bracelet. The tennis bracelet is comprised of a sleek bead of diamonds that encircle the wrist. Both are the perfect gifts for Valentine's Day.
