What to Wear if You are Apple Shape? Celebrity Style and Fashion Tips
About the Apple Shape
About 14% of women belong the group of apple shaped whose figure is also described as V shape or downward triangle because of the ratios of shoulders, waist, hips and legs. On the top, the letter is broader similarly to their broad shoulders and the figure becomes narrower by the hips. Apple shaped women also tend to have slim legs and thighs that is excellent for wearing skirts and shorts, whilst the abdomen and chest look larger compared to the rest of the body.
Celebrities like Jennifer Hudson, Oprah Winfrey, Jessica Simpson and Elizabeth Hurley are amongst the apple shaped women we know from the glossy magazines.
If you are wondering who else would make this glamorous list, look no further than at the slim apple shaped celebrities such as Angelina Jolie, Tyra Banks, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Drew Barrymore.
Do's and Don't for Dressing Apple Shape Women
Our favourite celebrities know how to rock the red carpet with their elegant gowns and their every-day attire also make the top lists on the fashion forums of best-dressed.
Now let's start our tour of celeb closets by taking a look at this outfit of Angelina Jolie. This casual but yet rock-chic look could catch anyone's eyes. Though the colours are quite dark, the tight leather pants enhance her long slim legs and the loose sweaters layered on top of each other give a relaxed look when going for shopping with her son.
Our take-away tip from Angelina: go bold with great-fitting pants and match them with a long shirt and high boots.
And before the sunniest days and hot air arrives, make sure to add a few pairs of shorts to your collection as they will look great on you. Take a look at Jessica Simpson's outfit: the jeans shorts combined with white T's and dark jacket are perfect most many occasions. She completed this look with a colourful necklace, a green purse and a pair of sunglasses.
Liz Hurley could be a metaphore for sophisticated and sexy look. She certainly has a closet full of amazing dresses, such as this pink one on the picture. What this dress does is creating the illusion of an hourglass figure with the tight waistline, V neck and A-line bottom. If you aspire to look just as nice, choose a dress with a V cut that makes the neckline longer, and a defined waistline. Wrap-around and one-shoulder dresses are also a great choice for Apples. But avoid glitter, flowers and other décor on the shoulders as they could make the figure top heavy.
These accessories are not only the best secrets of hourglass shaped women but a must-have for Apple Shape ladies too. So grab a few on your next shopping spring and wear one on top of blouse, dress or even cardigan for a flawless siluette. Take inspiration from Tyra Banks who chose a white belt for her LBD.
When selecting a shirt or blouse, go for V-cut and try to avoid turtle necks, high necklines and wide shoulder fitting tops. The latter will emphasize the shoulders when in fact we want to draw attention to the waist, hips and legs.
This top shown on the picture has a V-neck, a blue dye and a wrap front - perfect for the office with suit pants and high heels or for a dinner with friends when matched with blue jeans.
For further examples, take a glimpse at what Oprah, Jennifer and Liz wore - see photos below.
Last but not least, let's talk about those flowers, stripes and rectangles...
You can select any of the aboves but be very careful of what type: small flowers and vertical stripes will look more appealing than large dots or horizontal stripes on this shape. Experiment freely but always try on before purchasing clothes in new styles!
This striped top with the peplum and cute bow-belt on the waist is my personal favourite - see on the photo to the right.
As a recap of the aboves: focus on your figure's best features and dress accordingly. Shorts, skirts, or slim fitting jeans with a wisely chosen top could make the perfect outfit for you.
