What to wear to a UFC or boxing event

Updated on September 3, 2012

Before attending my first UFC event, I googled the exact title of this article. I just wasn't sure if I should go all out shiny mini-dress or if I should wear jeans and a nice tee. I mean, it was a sporting event and who wears a sequined dress to a football game? Needless to say, I was under-dressed and the crowd did not resemble beer drinking sports fans on a lazy Sunday morning.

What to wear

Dress up and don't be afraid to be a bit sexy. However, if you find yourself in a floor length evening gown or skimpy nightclub attire, you've gone too far (not to worry, so have I). Also, you'll probably be going up and down stairs and sitting for a long period of time, so try for something that's not too tight or made out of an uncomfortable fabric. Here's a list of possible outfits for fight night:

  • shimmery or black dress- can be form fitting, but don't go too short, you don't want a crotch shot in your photos.
  • black, dark or colored skinny jeans with stilettos- wear a dressy top or a plain tee with a blazer or fitted leather jacket.
  • trousers with razor back blouse- If jeans or a dress aren't your cup of tea, then try a pair of black high-waisted, wide leg trousers and a bright colored spaghetti or razor back blouse.

I would stay away from anything too warm like a hoodie or heavy sweater, as it tends to get pretty hot in those arenas. I hope this article was helpful and I'm definitely not a pro on dressing for fighting events, I've just attended a few and am now sharing what I've seen. Thanks for reading, have fun at fight night and please feel free to post your own favorite fight night outfits!
