WOMENS LAPTOP & BUSINESS CASES-FASHION before FUNCTION

There is no doubt that female laptop & business case consumers must find the style appealing, before they even compare function. In our industry, we had an entire host of male inspired laptop and business cases that performed well, yet certainly didn’t translate to the female consumer. Consequently, when these suppliers attempted to make the identical product in a variety of bright colors, they simply couldn’t understand why the product sat on the shelves and didn’t interest female customers. The computer hard drives on laptops are much more durable today than they were in the past, and although the computer still needs protection, the primary concern in women’s laptop cases is eye appeal first and function and practicality second.

As a buyer, we have an obligation to understand more about the development process of a women’s laptop or business case. My first question in the selection process is who designed the product. I’m not suggesting that a male can’t be successful in developing women’s laptop & business cases. However, if this male designer is not consulting with females in the process, the chance of success is significantly diminished. The products that succeed in our retails stores all seem to have substantial input from female designers or female focus groups. The bottom line is a woman knows what a woman wants. Our retail store has cycled through many women’s laptop and business case styles, yet those that survive follow the above formula.

The styles range considerably, and we have cases that are quite compact for the smaller netbooks or laptops, and some large enough to hold the 17” computer. However, weight is a very important consideration so it is far less frequent that we have requests for 17” women’s laptop cases. Many of these laptop and business cases look more like a handbag or travel tote than that of a traditional business brief. Unlike our best styles for the male consumer, the women’s laptop and business case styling changes rapidly and seasonally.

The images attached to this article will be changing from time to time, because otherwise the styles shown will surely be outdated. Naturally, we have a tremendous request for wheeled laptop cases, especially for those women that frequently travel. Quality is a very important consideration in women’s laptop cases; consequently, I would recommend reading my article on ‘Genuine Leather’ to help you determine the quality of leather before making your purchase. Thank you for taking the time to read this article, your input is always welcome!
