Womens UGG Boots – A Buyer’s Guide
Although the origin of UGG Boots is disputed, with both Australia and New Zealand having claimed to have created the design, there is no denying that they are now an extremely sought after fashion item across the globe.
About The Brand
An Australian surfer, Shane Steadman, first started selling UGG Boots and registered the name as a trademark back in 1971. During the 60’s, UGGs were very popular amongst pro surfers, and they found that using the boots kept their feet warm after a competition. Surfing helped to drive the popularity of the boots outside of Australia and New Zealand, yet the history of UGG Boots goes back even further and is on record that aviators during World War I used them while flying, although they were referred to as “fug boots” a shortened version flying UGG Boots.
The name UGG Boots was adopted as the household name for sheepskin boots in Australia and New Zealand as early as the 1970’s, although some would say that the name has been around for much longer. UGG Boots are now also available in Germany.
Brian Smith, another Australian surfer started selling UGG Boots in the United States through the company Ugg Holdings, Inc. In 1995 Ugg Holdings, Inc. was sold to Deckers Outdoor Corporation, and since then UGG Boots have continued to emerge as a hot fashion trend. High profile celebrities such as Charlize Theron, Megan Fox and Jennifer Aniston have all been spotted wearing UGG Boots.
Now that we have an understanding of the history of UGG Boots, let’s take a look at what styles are available to choose from.
