One popular area that you may want to consider getting tattooed is the wrist. Wrist tattoos are very popular among both men and women. The wrist is one of the smallest areas that you can get tattooed. Even so, wrist tattoos look great on either sex. Wrist tattoos usually sport smaller sized tattoo designs. You may get your wrist tattoo design on the top of the wrist or you can wear it on the bottom of the wrist. If you feel that you need more room, you have the entire arm to work with.

In this article, we will discuss wrist tattoos and wrist tattoo designs. We will also review the advantages and disadvantages of wrist tattoo designs. In the end, we hope that you are able to leave inspired and with ideas for your own wrist tattoo design.

In this day and age, wrist tattoos are more popular then ever. Men and women all around the world are looking for the right place to get their tattoo and the wrist may just be the perfect spot. There are several advantages of having wrist tattoos. In this article, we discuss all the advantages of wrist tattoos. We will also list the most popular tattoo symbols that are chosen for wrist tattoos and hopefully you will gain a few ideas for your wrist tattoo design.

So why should you you choose a wrist tattoo? For starters, the wrist is a great place to be tattooed. The wrist is a perfect place for small tattoo designs, which is very important to women and men. Since the wrist is a small canvas of your body, it would only be logical to have a small tattoo inked there. The wrist is also a perfect area for men and women that are getting their very first tattoo. In most cases, people usually feel more comfortable with a small tattoo design for their first tattoo. The wrist is a sensitive area, but it is less painful then most areas on your body when getting tattooed.

Another advantage of wrist tattoos is that they can be hidden if need be. Wrist tattoos have a certain mystique to them. Wrist tattoos can be beautiful, cute, and sexy. Although everyone wants to show off their tattoo at some time or another, there may be times when they need to be appropriately out of view. Wrist tattoos that are on the under skin can be hidden by clothing, wrist bands, or jewelry. On the flip side, arm bands and jewelry can go as a decorative with your wrist tattoo. For example, if you choose to get a heart wrist tattoo, you may want to wear a bracelet with heart charms. Since wrist tattoos are mostly done on the under skin, they are not always showing anyway.

When it comes to tattoos for the wrist, there are literally hundreds of appropriate tattoo symbols. This is another advantage of wrist tattoos. This gives you plenty of options to consider. Some tattoo symbols look better smaller while others are more appropriate as a larger design. Below, you can find a list of popular tattoos for the wrist.

  • Hearts
  • Stars
  • Flowers
  • Names
  • Birds
  • Quotes
  • Butterflies
  • Anchors
  • Ribbons
  • Dragonflies
  • Zodiac Symbols
  • Cross

One of the most popular tattoo symbols that are inked on the wrist is the heart. The heart can be tattooed on the wrist in a variety of different ways. Hearts can be portrayed as a single red heart or they can be designed in an artistic way or specific art style. Someone may want to choose more then one heart for their wrist tattoo, possible two or three. They could be different colors, shapes, or sizes. One may want to get a heart tattooed beside their name. If their name includes the letters "I"or "J", they may dot those letters with hearts. There are many creative ways to use hearts in wrist tattoos, as well as other tattoo symbols. Women usually choose hearts or stars. Stars are another popular tattoo symbol that women choose. Just as hearts, stars can come in a variety of different sizes. Stars can be portrayed as a single star or they could be designed to portray shooting stars.

There are a few popular tattoo symbols that are often chose by men as well. One popular choice for men is the nautical star tattoo. In fact, men usually lean toward a variety of maritime symbols for wrist tattoos. Compass tattoos and anchor tattoos are also popular choices. The wrist is not a popular tattoo location for men in general, but men do get wrist tattoos. They are just more common in women. Another popular wrist tattoo for men is flames and fire. Men may choose to add a skull or chain to their fire tattoo. Unlike women, men may choose a wrist tattoo that is on the top of the wrist or on the side.

Wrist tattoos can also include popular quotes, metaphors, and phrases. Wrist tattoos allow just enough room to do this. Below, you can find some examples that you may want to use.

  • Live, Laugh, Love
  • Faith, Hope, Love
  • Let It Be
  • Hakuna Matata
  • Strength And Honor
  • Family And Friends
  • Carpe Diem
  • Betta Vita
  • Never Give Up

  • Time Heals All Pain
  • One Life One Chance
  • Even The Best Fall Down Sometimes
  • I Hope You Find Reason To Smile
  • Love Your Beautiful Heart
  • Bring On The Rain
  • Without Struggle There Is No Reward
  • Only God Can Judge Me
  • In Weakness I find Strength

  • Hope
  • Honor
  • Faith
  • Love
  • Strength
  • Wisdom
  • Power
  • Pride
  • Heritage
  • Family
  • Courage
  • Happiness
  • Forgiven

From quotes to popular tattoo symbols, as you have read, there are many things that you can do with wrist tattoos. Another great idea for your wrist tattoo is names. This can include the names of your husband, wife, mom, dad, children, or close family and friends. You may want to get the names of your children tattooed on your wrist. Perhaps, you may have lost someone close and you want to honor that person by getting a wrist tattoo. Wrist tattoos are a great way to honor a special person in your life. Not only can you get their name tattooed, you can also include decorative tattoo symbols. You may want to get flowers on your memorial tattoo or cute tiny stars beside your children's names. The ideas are endless!

Wrist tattoos can also include decorative art alone or with other tattoo symbols. This also include tribal and Celtic art, which are two popular art styles in the tattoo world. This may or may not be an option for you. Decorative art can set your tattoo off and could put the finishing touches on your tattoo design. Japanese, Chinese, and other Asian characters may also be used for wrist tattoos, such as Kanji tattoos. These Asian characters are very popular among men and women both. Remember, there are a lot of options when it comes to wrist tattoos.

There are some important things that you should remember before you choose your tattoo. Make sure that you take the time to research what tattoos that you are interested in. This is very important. Make sure you fully understand what your tattoo fully means and represents. You don't want to get a tattoo and find out later that it doesn't represent what you thought it did. By doing your own research, you will be familiar with the tattoo of your choice. You can also gain ideas by looking at pictures of other tattoo designs. Make sure that you take your time when choosing your tattoo and don't get into a hurry. Don't rush to get inked! Men and women that rush to get a tattoo usually end up with regrets later on down the road. Take your time, look at as many tattoo designs as you can, do your research, and make your decision when you are 100% sure. *SGE, thank you so much. I am really glad that you find it interesting and you are able to take something away from it. I also like Celtic art, knotwork, ect. Cool:) Thanks.

*SJ, good point. It is something that you want to consider before doing. Try to stress that in every article. Maybe you will find that right one, never know:)

*Rosemay, it is a thought that many would first think. The bottom of the wrist is sensitive, but you have strong skin there to protect the veins. A little discomfort perhaps but not too much pain.

*James, everyone is different. Many people feel the same as you do, others love the art and fashion, and some like the symbolic value of their symbol. Appreciate your comment and input James.

*Frank, another thing is that everyone has a different wrist structure. If you have big veins that bulge, it can be painful. The skin is tough in that area. Not to say it won't hurt at all of course. Tattoos do hurt a little, no matter where you get it. A good point though.

*AE, that is a cute design. I have always like the maritime symbols for the wrist. A nautical star or anchor would be great for example.

*Gypsy, my dear dear Gypsy. You made my day:) Writing lyrics is my passion, more then anything else. I promise to do that. I am so busy anymore, I barely have time to even write and read articles.

*Kash, thanks again my friend. I really do appreciate it very much. Best wishes and see you around.

*LD, thanks for taking the time to comment and vote:) Love all those symbols. Great tattoos for the wrist.

*Max, always nice to see ya pal. Hope your doing great! Glad you liked them. Talk to you later.

Some of these designs are neat! I don't have any tattoos on my body. I must be the only odd ball when I go to the beach. Definitely not on the wrist because it's a very delicate area. I like the star, butterfly and believe.

Awesome, there are some gorgeous designs. When I saw this my first thought was, ouch that is bound to be more painful with the veins there., so I was quite surprised that you said it was less painful, so thank you for that info. I could live quite happily with a wrist tattoo now Lol.

Up and across the board except funny

Some great designs. I haven't got one yet, I am still debating where to have one if I do and what I want to have. It is something you really have to think about, well I do anyway.

Only you could write about this and keep my interest. You really are very creative with your knowledge. I love the idea of hertiage and tribal. My other favorites are the never ending knot. I'm partial as it is rather celtic in its design. The coolest one is the "Its only Forever" on one wrist and "Not Long At All" on the other.

Happy to be reading, admiring the photos and learning about a subject I didn't know this much about before finding your hubs.
