Margaret Minnicks has been an online writer for many years. She writes articles that are interesting to her readers.

There are so many uses for yogurt besides being a breakfast food or a bedtime snack. Many people eat yogurt, but they do not know that there are other uses for the food. However, this article will focus on the dairy product to beautify the skin, hair, and teeth.

People usually think of yogurt only as a food to eat. Once people know it has many benefits as a beauty product, they will never look at yogurt the same way again.

There is no need to purchase expensive brands that contain fruits. Save money by purchasing the regular brands since you won't be eating it.

For Your Skin

Because of the various ingredients in yogurt, it can do wonders for a person's skin when it is used daily. It has protein, calcium, vitamin D and probiotics. It can also do wonders for your skin as it helps what's inside your body.

Eliminates dead skin

Yogurt dissolves dead skin cells because of the lactic acid it contains. The alpha hydroxy acid helps to give your skin a natural glow and prevents it from breaking out.

Relieves sunburn

The zinc in yogurt helps cool skin that has been sunburned, and it helps relieve itchiness. You may add a few drops of soothing chamomile essential oil and apply the mixture over the sunburned area. Keep it on for about 20 minutes before rinsing it off.

Soothes psoriasis

Use yogurt to soothe psoriasis. Simply rub plain yogurt over the affected area and leave on the skin for 30 minutes. After you rinse with lukewarm water, you will see and feel the difference.

Reduces discoloration

Use yogurt at least three times a week to reduce discoloration on the skin. The mild bleaching powers reduce blotches and age spots. Rub a few tablespoons of yogurt mixed with a squeeze of lemon juice onto skin for 30 minutes. Rinse off the mixture.

Treats skin infections

Yogurt is a natural remedy for skin infections such as ringworm or athlete foot. Simply apply one teaspoon of yogurt over the infected area and wrap a gauze around it. Repeat the procedure twice a day until the infection goes away. The probiotics in the yogurt help rid the skin of infections.

There is no need to buy expensive yogurt with fruit when you use it as a beauty product.

For Your Face

Dr. Judith Hellman, Dermatologist and Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Mt. Sinai Hospital, says yogurt helps to rejuvenate and soften the skin. She recommends applying a yogurt face mask often and liberally after excessive sun exposure to calm your skin.

Moisturizes the face

A yogurt face mask can rejuvenate your face and make it glow. You can use 4 tablespoons of yogurt, 1 tablespoon of cocoa, and 1 teaspoon of honey. Apply these ingredients to your face and neck and keep it on for 30 minutes. Then rinse with cold water and pat your face dry. Your face will have more elastic and look brighter.

Eliminate acne

Acne can be eliminated with yogurt because it contains natural antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. Use plain yogurt on a regular basis by rubbing one tablespoon of yogurt into the acne with a clean cotton ball. Leave it on your face for 30 minutes. Then wash it off with lukewarm water. Yogurt works to eliminate acne because of the high amounts of zinc and lactic acid.

Anti-aging facial

Yogurt can be used to give yourself an anti-aging facial. In a small bowl, mix ΒΌ teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of yogurt. Wash your face before slathering the creamy natural yogurt over your face and neck. Leave on for about 10 to 15 minutes, and then rinse it off.

Reduces wrinkles and fine lines

People get fine lines and wrinkles on their face as they age. The lactic acid in yogurt helps to dissolve dead skin and tighten pores. Add a tablespoon of olive oil to 3-4 tablespoons of yogurt. Apply the mixture to your face and leave on for about 30 minutes three times a week. The lactic acid in yogurt will help remove the top layer of dead skin which will make the face look brighter and younger.

Fades blemishes and pigmentation

Sometimes acne and pimples leave behind scars. During the fading process, use one tablespoon of yogurt and 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice to help fade the blemishes a lot faster. Keep the mixture on your face for about 15 minutes and rinse with cold water. Because the lactic acid removes the top layer of dead skin, new skin cells will grow and reduce pigmentation and discoloration.

Eliminates dark circles under the eyes

Dark circles appear under eyes in people who don't get enough sleep and who are stressed. Using yogurt can help eliminate the dark circles. Simply dip a cotton ball in yogurt and gently dab it under each eye. Leave the yogurt on for about 10 minutes and rinse. Because of the anti-inflammatory properties, dark circles and puffiness are eliminated.

For Your Hair

Yogurt contains vitamin B5 and vitamin D. They are both linked to healthy hair and follicles. Rub the dairy product into your hair. Massage it into your scalp. Leave it on for about three minutes. Then rinse it out.

The food product can be used to prevent hair from falling out. It also treats dandruff. Use four tablespoons of yogurt, two tablespoons of aloe vera gel and two tablespoons of coconut oil. Apply the mixture to your strands and leave on for an hour. Then rinse thoroughly. This procedure will help to repair dry and damaged hair to make it more manageable.

Keep hair from falling out

Hair falls out when follicles do not receive the proper nourishment. Yogurt is full of nutrients that can help stop some hair from falling out. Mix 1/2 cup of yogurt with three tablespoons of ground fenugreek seeds. Brush on strands of hair and leave on for about an hour. Then rinse it off.

Stops dandruff

Dandruff can be eliminated with just 1/2 cup of yogurt when it is massaged into the scalp and left on for 20 minutes and is rinsed out with a mild shampoo. Yogurt is a natural anti-fungal that removes dandruff.
