Aging & Skin Care

Updated on February 25, 2014

Looking for a more youthful appearance? Let's get started.

There are so many alternatives out there where we find ways to enhance our skin to have a younger look and even feel younger than we have in years. Plus keeping our skin healthy is also very important all around.

Some of the treatments range from easy do it yourself at home wrinkle treatments, spending frugally up to the big bucks in the market or even at the plastic surgeon's office. At this time in my life I am hoping to continue to age well!

Anti Aging Products

Looking for Skin Care Products?

I have come across so many products for us to help in our fight against the almighty and inevitable wrinkle. Each of us are probably trying to seek out our own favorite ones.

I have used very few of them so far, but I have gotten some feedback from my peers at this point to see what's working for them.

Here are a couple:

One that comes up a lot is Olay Regenerist Serum. Most women I spoke to use this one and have told me that they get great results and rather fast, and are tickled with it. Their little lines begin disappearing and some claim they almost vanish. A reasonable price for a great product that I have heard gave most fast results.

Update: I have been trying this one recently and so far I love it! The little lines seem to be less an less!

Estee Lauder Time Zone Night Anti-Line / Wrinkle Crème which is a product one of my friends told me about. She had used this product in the nighttime as the name defines and claims she absolutely loved it the first week. It does not contain any spf, due to the fact that it is used in the night, so don't mistake it and use it during the day. Although they do also offer Time Zone Line and Wrinkle Reducing Creme Broad Spectrum SPF 15 for the daytime which I would expect to be just as good. I think I may try these products myself as well.

Seasonal Skin Care

Constant changes in our weather always tend to affect our skin. With the winter season in full effect, now we have to be very diligent in our skin care.

Considering where you live, the elements can wreak havoc on your skin, not only on your face, but everywhere!

Make sure you are moisturizing thoroughly, and also drinking enough water daily. AlWAYS use a sunscreen, no matter what the season is, the rays will be following you all the time!

Home Facials

Are Masks and Facial Scrubs For You?

I adore going out and treating myself to a facial. Many times there isn't enough time to go out when there is such a hectic schedule. I find that there are plenty of homemade facials that I found I can make myself.

If you have these items in house, which if you really think about it, they are right in the cupboard, or, just pick up a few of these fairly inexpensive during the typical shopping trip. Whenever you are in the mood for a great homemade facial, there you have it!

Plus, wouldn't it be a great idea to get some of your friends and family over for facial evening or afternoon? Everyone can pitch in with their own little secret recipe and take turns with each other. Have some wine and snacks and have fun .

Here is a list of some of the supermarket items I have used for masks and facial scrubs - oatmeal, honey, quinoa, olive oil, yogurt, flax seeds, pumpkin, and so many other great things. The sky is the limit, and you can find your own favorites by trial and error to what you like the best and what works best for your skin type.

My Favorite Sunscreen

My Best Advice

Of course, if you don't use a sunscreen, you may have a hard time avoiding the aging process. I use the sunscreen every single day. This is the MOST important advice I give besides trying all the other products around.

I tried many others before this one, but Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunscreen is perfect for me because it goes on thin and doesn't leave a greasy film at all, and doesn't make my skin break out, yes, I said break out! Even at my age, it happens ugh. I think many of you out there will love it as well.

Click out this sunscreen to see the reviews and ordering availability from They even have a subscribe and save option so you don't forget to buy it when you run out! Plus it even saves you a few bucks.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen, Broad Spectrum Spf 100, 3 Fl. Oz.
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen, Broad Spectrum Spf 100, 3 Fl. Oz.

I use this product every day and it works so well plus feels wonderful whether you wear it under makeup or on bare skin.

Home Made Scrubs

Using household ingredients to make facial and body scrubs can be very economical and very refreshing. Find any combination that you like and prepare to your liking. Share with us please!

Eye Wrinkle Creams

The wrinkled skin around your eyes is created by constant daily squinting, winking or such movement.. As you age, your skin becomes thinner and the creases and fine lines embed in.

There are some products out there that can give us a leg up on the fight against them!

Creams which help smooth wrinkles and lines and lift those areas around the eyes are basically named Eye firming creams. Some contain peptides or vitamin C and they work by penetrating that skin and stimulate the collagen that we all need to plump our skin up. This is collagen that we have lost in time.

Here are a few good products:

PHILOSOPHY EYE BELIEVE deep wrinkle peptide balm for eyes - this is a peptide balm that can be used both on the eyes for the wrinkles and also on the upper lip, and I have gotten a few very good mentions about this one as well.

CLINIQUE ANTI-GRAVITY FIRMING EYE LIFT CREAM - I have heard quite a few positive reviews for this one. It seems to be the most popular by far. The price is very reasonable and it is easily found, in the store, and online

OLAY REGENERIST EYE LIFTING SERUM - I have tried this one personally and it goes on very smoothly, and it isn't very thick. It feels like silk actually. The price is not bad at all. I haven't tried it very long yet, but will see how well it works soon enough. I have very few lines and hopefully will continue to have very few.

Feedback and Comments are warmly welcomed!

It's never too early to start, although I do get depressed at adverts trying to push anti aging products onto 20 somethings!
