That is what I was going to say, tattoo with a low solution with glycolic acid. Like laser, it takes many sessions, and an interval between sessions, so it's at least one year before it is gone .
Something else you can do is apply glycolic acid (50% or higher) weekly over it. It will lighten very little, though.
No tattoo removal method is 100% perfect. Lasers can leave the skin whitish, and glycolic acid might not remove it all (but it doesn't leave scar). If the problem is that you don't like the tattoo, my suggestion is to lighten it just a little and then cover up with a new tattoo.
Also, again, laser in a tattoo studio is cheaper than at a doctor's, and usually the seller of the machine gives the training, so there's no risk.
