Not sure about feet or hips, but I can imagine getting tattoos on places closer to the bone like knuckles would hurt more.

It depends on you as a person, and how your body reacts to pain.
Supposedly getting a tattoo across your ribs or on the bottom of your feet is the worst place to get them!

I suggest getting a tattoo in a place that won't show while you are at work. I have one on my inner wrist. It was painful to get, but I thought it was cool.

Now, after about 7 years, I am wishing I had put it somewhere less conspicuous. There are time when you don't want to wear long sleeves (even in Wisconsin).

From a pain perspective I'd say anywhere the tattoo gun will hit bone while injecting pigment will hurt.

Of course if your body translates pain as something good, then getting one on your feet is probably best since you have so many bones in the feet compared to the hip bone!

I honestly do not think they really hurt at all. It mostly tickles me. I have a hub showing all of the tattoos that I have. I do not have one on my foot, but according to my aunt, she said it hurts worse than child birth. I have heard that ribs hurt pretty bad, but I have one on my ribs and didnt think so. I got it all done at once and the guys was surprised and told me I take getting tattoos really well. So maybe I am just more pain tolerant? But every person is different.

There's no way around it--Tattoos HURT. Some tattoos more than others. LOTS more. Check out this article to learn from artists & canvases, about areas that are often more painful than others. read more

I would go for the hip over your feet. Especially if this is your first tatt. Even if your hips are boney, it will still be a lot easier.

I hate tattos on nipples and face. These are really worse places to have a tatto. They also spoil natural beauty

I have quite a few tats. In my experience, the ones that hurt the most were the meatier parts of my body (ex: thigh, stomach). My shoulder blade didn't hurt at all. My hip started to hurt as the design went up towards my belly button. It's those damn meaty areas that hurt like a sonovagun.

I would say no tattoos I am a coward to pain. I also don't like the idea of it being permanent.

Imagine you were to wear a formal outfit for a very important occasion, whether it is a job interview or meeting the Heads of State ...whatever skin is visible is the worse place for a tattoo

Pain is subjective.  What hurts one person a lot might not be so bad to another.  Places with more body fat or muscle are going to offer some padding over the bones and nerves and perceived of as less painful by most.  Really bony areas tend to be viewed as being very painful.

For a skinny person, a hip might turn out to be just as painful as the feet.

As for the "worse" place, again that's subjective.  In the history of tattooing, people have tattooed every single part of the human body.

I can answer this from experience. I have tattoos on my feet and hips and I can tell you the absolute worse place of all 16 tats I have my ribcage was by far the worst!!!
