   There are lots of designer hand bags. There are also places where you can get them at a really good discount(discounted brand stores). In my opinion, women buy designer bags to make them feel good.

   For the same reason you pick a beautiful flower, hug a baby, watch the sun set and the moon rise. Some things make you happy and feel good. And it differs from person to person. Buying a designer bag does not make me feel good. But playing with my three year old niece does. May be buying designer bags does that for some people.

   They do it because the bag is a status symbol. They want to be seen and feel better about themselves. They want to be noticed by other women and feel bigger then them. It's like men and their cars. They want nice cars so they can show them off and feel like hot shots.

   Some designer bags are an advertisement for the brand but others are high quality timeless pieces. Women that buy bags that are brand stamped all over do it to show off - because they can. Women that buy classic designer bags, value quality of materials and craftsmanship. I personally would rather have a few well made bags than a closet full of cheap ones.

    I would say its a fashion or trend they want to follow, also because of warranties, and durability, once I bought a designer bag because it had a lifetime guarantee lol, but i know women who buy lots of cheap bags to match outfits so I guess it depends on the individual
