Are there any benefits to wearing underwear?

I mean what's the purpose of wearing them?

my wife thinks the same way. to her underwear is just another thing to put on that makes no sense. as for the benefits, i guess it makes stripping her down a bit more interesting.

It keeps you warm. Helps with embarrassing accidents plus I don't want to wash my jeans everyday as I do with underwear. Of course on a hot day under a dress being underwear free is extremely nice smile

Speaking for the male perspective, it can help keep things out of the zipper.  This can be very important indeed.

I agree that they can be uncomfortable and hot but they can save a lot of embarassment too. Recently, I was conducting a small class that consisted mostly of men. I might have been all of eight feet from the front row and right as the class was about to start this very tall man walked in and sat down in the front row. He had very long legs and he just sat there with his legs propped wide open just like any man would sit. The only problem was that the seam starting just below his zipper was ripped badly. It was a large rip. He had on tan pants with navy blue underwear! Because of the contrasting colors it was very evident but at least he had on underwear!

What I want to know is why where you looking?  That is a better, more interesting story than the color blue.

Short skirts on a windy day!  This is a situation that can be helped by some kind of undergarment.

Underwear, from my perspective, is about the sexy factor! It can be something that nobody sees and hence it is a "secret", as in the brand "Victoria's Secret."  Or... due to the male gaze or interest in visual stimulation lingerie can create some heat and the sparks may begin to fly!

Well, I suppose if you go commando, You could save money not having to buy underwear. smile

It's because we have all had dreams about being in the classroom as kids and standing in front of the class in nothing but our underwear!  That was bad enough, but think if we didn't have our underwear on!!  Thank goodness for underwear!

They keep fart stains of your white jeans. They also collect the dingleberies before they roll down you leg and fall out of your pants leg.

If you forget to put your pants on it helps a lot. If you buy them at Victorias it really helps a lot and it helps in positioning wayward equipment that has a mind of own. I can't speak for women, but, an Oregon winter will freeze anyting uninsulated. Just the thought makes me shrivel up and shudder.

    Hello
Well I must admit I am still wearing a thermal vest in Badenoch and Strathspey in the Scottish Highlands as the temperature here has been so variable, and struggled so far to reach double figures. So I would say my thermal leggings, vest and socks are well worth the effort.
    Fun question!

In the winter, yes.  The benefit is obvious.

In the summer, no.  Again, obvious.

    Tighty whities, boxers or sport....which?

I heard it actually protects from yeast infections. Not so sure it's true, since I have never gotten a yeast infection from going commando.

I actually heard the opposite, that underwear create heat that promotes growth of bacteria. Hmm

Someone I new a long time ago went swimming with his underwear on.  Later he took off his bathing suit and underwear and put on his jeans but something very painful happened while doing up the zipper.  They had to get professionals to come and help him out.  I heard about it from someone else.  So not only was it a bad experience but people were also talking about it.  Males need underwear if they are wearing pants with zippers.  Underwear also keeps the outer clothes cleaner.  I change my underwear and my under shirts daily but I can wear pants and outer shirts multiple times before I need to wash them.

Without underwear there would be more accidents, clothes would need to be washed more often and things would not stay in place.  Besides the painful accidents there is sometimes accidental exposure.  In most cases it is better to identically reveal your underwear than your naked body.  Another benefit to wearing underwear is warmth.

It's about hygiene for one thing...think of it as a big 'pad'. For guys, it serves the purpose of providing some support and protection against chaffing. Going 'commando' runs the risk of things getting 'rubbed the wrong way'.
