   Are the long skirt/dress and ankle-length "Maxi dress" really in style at the moment?
   
   I adore ankle-length skirts and dresses, but they never seem to be "in style" so only me and my vacuum cleaner and sponges know I love these as I putter around the house. I have a dark purple, washable, krinkle "Maxi dress" that is made of thin, dark purple silk. Mmmm the gentle swishing sounds long dresses make. Please tell me, honestly, if ankle length is "in" for awhile or an already passed fad. I can always just stay home and read in long dresses.

   Ankle-length skirts and dresses are always "in style".  Why? Because You say so!  Dressing is a matter of personal style, taste and attitude.  Carry yourself with confidence and who would dare tell you it doesn't work.
   
   I love long skirts and dresses.  There's a certain elegance that's there when I'm in my long skirts or dresses.  Fashion once said that "Polyester" was "in-style".  I wore cotton, linen and wool gaberdine.  Polyester felt like rubber on my skin.
   
   Be the trendsetter, not the follower.

      I agree 100%! Thank you so much for your comments. I asked the question because someone very dear to me whose opinion I value on most things is vigorously against them. I DO carry myself with confidence in them because they make me feel beautiful.

      I love your comment and I couldn't agree more. Wear what looks good on you regardless of just what is trending. Your clothes say so much about who you are...who would know that about us if we all wore the same thing!!!!!

   According to Spring Summer fashion trends of 2012, yes, they are. Asymmetrical hems are totally in ! Idk about ankle length ones though. If you know how to sew, you can make it asymmetric hem i guess

   I do not like the look of the maxi dress.  Long skirts are different as they give the woman a waist.
   
   People should always wear what they like, not what is "in".  If you love your long dresses, don't worry what others think.

   Yes, but even if they weren't in style, you could still wear them. Everyone has their own personal style, like if you like to dress in all vintage, or you wear dark colors even in the summer. Even if it's not what the general public would wear, people will still admire your sense of style as long as you wear what you love with confidence.

      Thanks, falloffthegrid! I take a lot of flack from my family on my long dresses and skirts; it's just my own "personal style" as you say. The objection is that I'm short and they make me look shorter. Oh, well! :-)
