Top 10 Beatle Boots
Ten 21st-century takes on famous Fab Four footwear
I've spent so much of my Squidoo time crafting pages about women's boots, a shoutout to my better half is long overdue.
From the authentic-looking Beatle boots he picked up at a vintage store years ago when we were first dating to his latest pair of modern, functional black boots, ankle-high leather footwear is perhaps his one guy fashion vice. I like to tease him sometimes about collecting these boots, but all it takes is one peak in my closet to see I haven't got a (wince) leg to stand on.
Here, as a non-sappy Valentine tribute to my guy (and, one year later, a celebration of the first time this fab footwear was seen in the U.S., as the Beatles stormed the Ed Sullivan show 50 years ago!), are ten cool Beatle boots for your browsing pleasure. Be a rock star in these, or just dress like one. May the look flourish for 50 more years & beyond!

What are Beatle boots?
Shopping in London post Hamburg, the Beatles noticed an ankle boot that they thought would go well with their polished new matching-suit look. They commissioned and debuted Beatle boots in 1961, and the style took off from there--peaking in the '60s, reemerging in the late '70s with the punk movement, and roaring back in the 2010s.
The original Beatle boots were a riff on the Chelsea style British workman's boot. They fit snugly and featured a "Cuban heel." The toe was pointed--something modernizers have adjusted, to varying degrees. Another touch rarely seen today but present on the originals: an ankle-to-toe seam/stitch running along the center of the boot.
