Best Flat Iron Hair Straighteners

Updated on August 10, 2015

The Best Hair Straightener Reviews

People with curly or frizzy hair can look at this review and find out what the best flat iron hair straightener for their own needs might be. Of course, not everyone wants to straighten their hair and there are plenty of guys who love the curly or frizzy look. But for those that like to make the change every once in a while, a good flat iron is an essential part of any woman's hair toolkit!

Before you go ahead and read what I have to say here, remember that we all have our own opinions and ideas on what is "best", so there will be plenty of folks that will agree with my choices and plenty more that will disagree. It's the nature of what we are; individuals with our own minds!

So what I'm specifically looking for is a top brand model along with some close contenders to feature on this page and I hope you like what I have found.

The Best Flat Iron Hair Straighteners Under $50

How to Find Great Value Flat Irons Without Compromise on Quality

If you're like me and don't want to spend a small fortune on something that will only get occasional use, then looking for a good flat iron that under $50 is a mission worth having! The choices I've made below reflect that mission in that I'm mainly looking for the best quality and features that I can get on a device that isn't going to break the bank.

So take a look at the flat irons I've selected as my top choices below and you'll see I'm not taking any notice of the high price devices because while it's probably a given they're going to be the best quality, it doesn't mean that's always going to be true. In fact, I've found an absolute gem that comes in well under the $50 barrier and its one of the best quality straighteners I've ever found.

Amazon Personal Review of My #1 Flat Iron Hair Straightener

This is my first choice of flat iron hair straightener, since it is the one I am using right now, so I'm a little biased! The review factors in quality, build, user friendliness, ease of use and cost.

HSI The Styler Ceramic Tourmaline Ionic Flat Iron Hair Straightener, 1 inch

The HSI Flat Iron makes it to be my top choice because it is perfect for transforming unruly hair into easy to manage, straight and very sleek hair! But that's not all it's good for. It also does the opposite and easily copes with curling and flipping hair beautifully.

The 1 inch plates give max control for users with many different hair types. It heats up fast with its "flash quick heating" mode and there is a handy swivel cord to keep it from getting in the way. It's very quick and easy to use too.

It features an easy grip coupled with its nice, ergonomic design to make holding it at all angles really easy and firm. With different heat settings, this versatile machine provides total control for hairstyling. The temperature, once it gets to the right place stays there nice and even thanks to the moist heat produced by the solid ceramic plates.

The unit is very sturdy and feels solid and firm in the grip, which is important when going for those crazy angles and not feeling like you're going to drop the hot irons in your lap!

Lastly, the price is definitely right for me. It's under $50 and that puts it in the perfect place for a quality built set of straighteners.

Review of My #2 Flat Iron Hair Straightener on Amazon

This is the second choice for flat irons under $50 and this one just scrapes under the limit with the discount in force at Amazon.

CHI Original 1" Flat Hair Straightening Ceramic Hairstyling Iron 1 Inch Plates
CHI Original 1" Flat Hair Straightening Ceramic Hairstyling Iron 1 Inch Plates

This is the second choice for flat irons under $50 and this one just scrapes under the limit with the discount in force at Amazon.

This one is the Farouk CHI GF1001 Original. It's another ceramic flat iron 1 inch hair straightener. It has multiple features for straightening, curling, flipping and of course styling. The design and build are wonderful, with a solid feel to its ergonomic design.

It heats up real fast with flash heating and also has the all-important swivel cord to stop it getting in the way. It's real easy to use and does a remarkable job of straightening with what seems like very little effort. The great thing is hair stays straight for ages after, unlike the results from cheaper. Lower quality irons. Get this one if you like the name and don't mind paying a little more than my first choice for that.

Price is under $50 but only just at the time of writing this review, with the current discount from Amazon making it a great buy!

Review of My #3 Flat Iron Hair Straightener on Amazon

This is the third choice for flat irons under $50. It costs a lot less than the first two, but is still good quality and great value for the money with the discount at Amazon.

BaBylissPRO Porcelain Ceramic Straightening Iron, 1 Inch
BaBylissPRO Porcelain Ceramic Straightening Iron, 1 Inch

This is the third choice for flat irons under $50. It costs a lot less than the first two, but is still good quality and great value for the money with the discount at Amazon.

This model from BaByliss is a small marvel for straightening and styling hair. It's made with commercial grade porcelain ceramic and that means it can create shiny, smoothly finished hair after straightening. That's because porcelain emits negative ions when the unit is in use and apparently, that smooths and relaxes the hair. It also generates far-infrared heat which is claimed to further protect the hair's luster.

You can probably tell I'm no expert on the scientific side of things, but I just know that this unit does a great job in an easy to use manner and it feels solid and robust in use.

This model costs a lot les than its bigger brothers, but at under $40 it's a total steal for what it can do and how easy it makes the process. Get one while they're still at such a great price!

Review of My #4 Flat Iron on Amazon

This is the forth choice for flat irons under $50. It's good quality and great value for the money and one well worth checking out. So I did!

T3 SinglePass Straightening and Styling Iron
T3 SinglePass Straightening and Styling Iron

This is the T3 single pass 1 inch flat iron. It's advertised as being an intelligent iron for styling, smoothing and shaping hair into "world-class" styles. Are you interested in the science part? I'm not really, so I’ll skip it.

You can read all about the techy stuff on Amazon if you're so inclined! Suffice it to say, it keeps a steady temperature and does a great job of straightening hair and doing all the other cool stuff the others do like curling and styling.

It keeps hair static free which is pretty important and once hair is straight, it stays straight for ages after. It's a solid feeling iron that is easy to use in all the usual crazy angles and that makes it feel safe to use.

Price is definitely right at under $50, this is a great value flat iron so grab one while you can!
