Best Products for Naturally Curly Hair

Here you will learn all about the best hair products for curly hair. I have naturally curly hair and know what a challenge it can be to tame and control. How curly hair appears and performs is dependent on the hair products you use, more so than any other hair type. Some hair products will bring out the frizz, some with create bouncy curls, and others will create softer waves.

I've tried just about every curly hair product on the market. I've learned what works and what doesn't and the best ways to care for naturally curly hair. Below you'll find all of the best hair products for curly hair.

About the Best Hair Products for Curly Hair

How to care for naturally curly hair

I'd be rich if I had a dollar for every time someone told me I was so lucky to have naturally curly hair and how they wish their hair was curly too. But all of us that deal with naturally curly hair daily know that it can feel more like a curse than a blessing to be afflicted with a mop of massive waves that require constant tending. It's frustrating to not be able to brush your hair without it frizzing and to be stuck wearing it curly on rainy days or face the wrath of an out of control mane.

It's taken three decades of me experimenting and learning from good stylist before I finally feel like I understand how to care for my curly hair. I've learned that I must find hair products that work for my hair type and that each product from shampoo to mouse is extremely important. I used to wash my hair with what ever shampoo and conditioner I happen to have on hand at the time and then use a good styling product and then wonder why my hair looked awful. After trying a variety of shampoos I learned that my hair performs differently and my curls change shape and texture based off of what shampoo and conditioner I use.

For curly hair to look it's best you must find the perfect balance of hydration. If your hair is too dry then your curls frizz, but if your hair is overly hydrated it will weight down your roots making your hair flat on top and bushy on the bottom.

Best Products for Naturally Curly Hair

After trying tons of products for curly hair, I've decided that the best ones are sulfate free and alcohol free. Sulfates strip the hair and alcohol dries it out. Both contribute to frizz! Start reading the labels of hair care products before you buy them. MOst of the so called cleansing conditioners (like Wen) contain alcohol that will cause your hair to frizz.
