My Feet Love Comfy Sassy Sandals!
My feet have served me well for more than half a century. They have survived without complaint over many years and many miles.
They have climbed trees, been crammed into school shoes and stilettos, pushed off blocks in spikes to run many sprint races, walked many a mile along the sands of Moggs Creek and other splendid places, chased after a lively toddler, hitch hiked in hiking boots around Tasmania leaving traces, walked the streets of Carlton and Fitzroy looking for Godot when fallen from his graces and danced the night away at many a party at different paces.
Now they have their just reward. They've been blessed by Birkenstocks.
Why are Birkenstocks so Comfortable.
You may be asking yourself why are these sandals so comfortable as well as being good for you feet?
This is because they a have a well designed inner sole that supports the arch of your foot as well as allowing the foot to mold its own shape into to the shoe. This enables the foot to become comfortable and secure when walking.
The inner sole, made from contoured cork is molded in such a way that it evenly distributes ones body weight across the entire base of the foot providing 'Medically Correct' support to the muscles in your feet.
The sole of these shoes is made of a thick rubber which wears extremely well and absorbs shock when walking.
Made in Germany, the well known Birkenstock is famous for its clogs in wintertime and sandals in summer.
A Brief History of The Birkenstock Sandal.
Birkenstock sandals have a long history dating back to 1775 in Germany where they were first made and still are today.
A German shoemaker Johann Adam Birkenstock was the first amongst his trade to develop ' the contoured insole' that would later be used in shoe making production in these sandals.
As you can imagine many changes have been made to the shoe since 1775 though to 1960 and it wasn't until 1967 when an America women Margot Frazer discovered the Birkenstock whilst on holidays in Germany, that the Birkenstock sandal took off.
She found these sandals gave her great relief from a foot condition she had and later she became the founder of the trading company called Birkenstock Footprint Sandals Inc in California.USA.
From that day on these sandals never looked back and are still popular by many world wide today now in 2010.
Many love them, some hate them, that's the individuals choice.I happen to be among the many who love them!!!
