Vintage Style Bridal Coats and Bolero Jackets for Winter Brides

Updated on October 20, 2015

Winter weddings are said to have the most beautiful themes, and are many times aptly described as winter wonderland weddings.

Being a romantic time of the year to hold beautiful "quixotic" nuptials, one of the best things about the whole event is the gorgeously styled full and flowing wedding dress designs, accessorised with stunning bridal coats, shawls, wraps or scarves; depending on the region and the degree of cold.

Showing off her bridal dress is every brides dream, but if it’s moderately to biting cold, there must be provision for equally stunning covers for warmth.

These coats, scarves, wraps, shrugs, jackets or shawls must add elegance to any gown or dress and must be almost as awe-inspiring as the wedding dress itself, but in a subtle way without competing with the dress. Plus they must provide some warmth for brides.

Bridal wraps, coats or shawls are especially required to be worn right from leaving the front door at home via the routes to the wedding event venues; the church, registry, reception hall, outdoor garden, etc...

It must be beautiful and should complement. And for photo and video shoots taken outdoors, the bride must look her best and feel warm and cosy at the same time.

So if a bride is wearing a gorgeously made wedding dress with an exposed back, arms and chest that looks great when everyone is indoors, if everyone needs to be outside sometime during the ceremony these covers, wraps and shawls do come in handy.

Elegant Bridal Covers to Keep Brides Warm

Bridal coats and other type warmth providers must not clutter or clash with an elaborately designed bridal gown.

There is however loads for a bride to choose from ranging from the simple chiffon scarves to the detailed stunning coats that flow seductively, and you will always find the right one for the right gown.

There are a great number of bridal coats wraps, etc. designs available in all kinds of wools; in cashmere wool blends, light-weight wools and lighter bridal fabrics such as double organza, satin, velvet and brocatelle.

Most are designed to show the wedding dress off to perfection.

They also come as furry warm wraps that can be draped elegantly around the shoulders, cropped, short or long bridal coats, and shrugs with lovely upturned collars, vintage style shawls or bolero design winter covers.

Vintage Inspired Coats and Warm Covers for Brides

It is quite trendy these days to have a ‘winter wonderland wedding’, and many brides including the celebrities and stars are going for vintage style wedding themes.

So if you love a mix of the old with the new, you can add a dash of vintage to a modern wedding dress by draping a vintage inspired bridal scarf over and around your shoulders.

You can also opt for a stylish faux fur wedding shawl or bridal jacket, or complement your wedding gown with a satin Swarovski crystal encrusted bridal jacket inspired by the 1950s couture.

Add Style to a Simple Wedding Dress

Bridal capes, coats and wraps always adds flair and flamboyance to bridal wedding apparel so whether it’s for the bride, the bridesmaids, maid of honour or the mother of the bride and groom, from the moment they step out of their homes, they must wear something warm but breathtaking and stylish to complement their attire.

Right from home to the church (or registry), to the wedding reception, and on the way to the hotel, the airport or their honeymoon, winter brides need to wear bridal coats worthy of a winter wonderland wedding outfit.

And like many of today’s wedding dress accessories, they are a purchase they can wear for a long time to come, including for special occasions and events.

There are beautiful vintage inspired styles available that will see a bride through a wedding from autumn to spring, as long as they possess the following qualities associated with elegant bridal coats.

  • Full length wedding coats with trains for 'full blast' statements
  • Bridal coats custom made to match the wedding dress
  • Coats with elegant single button fastening that ensures the front of the bridal gown will show vividly
  • Bridal shawl collar on bridal coats. This style provides double the warmth around the neck and shoulders
  • Bridal coats with capes and faux fur trims fitted round the edges of the cape, and all the way down to the train.

Bridal coats, scarves, wraps, shrugs, jackets, shawls and the likes must add flair to a bride's outfit and must be nearly as breathtaking as the dress itself, but in a 'quiet' and subtle way without clutter or unnecessary frills.
