10 Cool Steampunk Necklaces You'll Fall In Love With

Updated on March 13, 2014

I Have A Secret Love, Steampunk Jewelry

I love my fiance with all my heart. I never thought I'd find another love, but it just sort of happened. It all started one day when I was browsing Pinterest. I stumbled across a "Steampunk Board", and curiously clicked on it. I immediately fell head over heels for the cool designs, and looks of Steampunk Jewelry. Yes, I am madly in love. So much that I even started my own board. I'm always looking for cool new things to add to it, and I've stumbled upon some of the coolest jewelry ever! So I'd like to share with you ten of the best Steampunk necklaces I've found so far. You will also find some fun quizzes, polls, and even a video on how to make your own steampunk jewelry!

What is Steampunk?

Steampunk is a style, a movement, a statement, a culture even. It is based out of the Victorian era. The idea is what things would be like if they were steam powered, as opposed to the high technology we have today. Some people refer to this as a post apocalyptic style, others just think of it as "What could have been" if things were powered with steam. This is all quite new to me, but I really love the style this sub culture offers! Here are some things you can expect to see in steampunk jewelry, clothes, gadgets, etc. Photo Credit

  • Gears. So many cool steampunk items feature them. As you can see below, a lot of these necklaces have gears incorporated into their design.
  • Corsets, big gowns, and other Victorian inspired things. Since a lot of the ideas and culture of steampunk comes from this era, you will find a lot of Victorian style mixed in!
  • Goggles. One of the most popular steampunk gadgets out there!
  • Submarines, and nautical things!
  • Clocks, pocket watches, and other time related gadgets.
  • Gas masks
  • Other cool gadgets and gizmos! There are so many different variations of things we use today. One unique thing that I have came across is a "steampunked" Xbox 360 controller!

My Favorite Necklaces

I love jewelry, especially necklaces! I have found so many great designs, but these are surely my favorites!

UMBRELLALABORATORY Steampunk Pocket Watch Necklace | Victorian Style, Silver Finish Handmade Kawaii Accessory
UMBRELLALABORATORY Steampunk Pocket Watch Necklace | Victorian Style, Silver Finish Handmade Kawaii Accessory

This is so cool because it is like the Alice in Wonderland pocket watch that the rabbit carries around. It also fits the steampunk style look. This looks well crafted and unique, would be a great gift for the man in your life- but I would wear it too!

UMBRELLALABORATORY Steampunk Octopus Necklace | Victorian Style, Gold Finish Handmade Pirate Accessory

Another nautical style steampunk necklace, this one is really popular! I love octopuses, something about them is so fun. Perhaps the 8 legs? I think this is a great piece, too cool!

UMBRELLALABORATORY Steampunk FIRE necklace - pendant charm locket jewelry- GREAT GIFT-bronze orange

This is my favorite, it has other shades such as blue, but I really like this fire color. The warm glow blinks, and is quite mesmerizing. I want this!

More Cool Pieces!

Below are the rest of the necklaces from my top ten favorites. Overall I'd have to say that the fire necklace is still my favorite, but I would love to own any of these!

Steampunk Antique Nautical necklace - TELESCOPE NECKLACE
Steampunk Antique Nautical necklace - TELESCOPE NECKLACE

This is definitely a unique necklace. According to some of the reviewers the telescope is about 2 inches long when folded out. I really like unique jewelry, and this is something you won't see everyday. This screams steampunk to me! I love this "Nautical" style Steampunk necklace. The telescope expands or closes, too cool!

Steampunk Mechanical Victorian Angel Wings Flight Necklace Gearwork Alloy Jewelry

One of my favorites, love the angel wings and internal gears.

Steampunk Mechanical Royalty Necklace Gearwork Alloy Jewelry

Another simple but brilliant design, this necklace is definitely awesome!

A little steampunk romance? I love the heart, and there are so many other necklaces from this company to choose from that are really cool and unique. This was my favorite though! I love the internal gears in the heart, such a quirky romantic feel!

Make Your Own Steampunk Necklaces!

Although you can find so many cool pieces of jewelry online, it is so much fun to make your own! Making Steam Punk jewelry is a lot easier than you may think. Check out the video below! Photo Credit

This was a fun lens to look through! I like certain aspects of steampunk (especially the Victorian clothes and jewelry), and my mom really likes clocks, watches, and mirrors. It hasn't really caught on in my area though. I like that glowing necklace too!
