Man Made Diamonds are Less Expensive

The main benefit of the created diamond lies in the price factor differential. A laboratory created gem is usually less expensive compared to an earth mined colored diamond because of the great expense the diamond mining process must commit to harvesting the gems.

A one carat earth-mined gem can cost thousands of dollars while a man made, created diamond of the same size and weight can be found at a fraction of the cost.

Although created, fancy colored diamonds typically would cost about the same price for a comparable natural white diamond, it's a different story when comparing man made fancy colored diamonds to their earth mined counterpart.

Because colored diamonds are so much more rare in nature, this generally amounts to a large savings when purchasing a man made diamond. Due to the scarce availability of colored diamonds found under the earth, fancy colored diamonds can be as much as 75% less than the cost of certain earth-mined colored diamonds of comparable size, color, clarity and cut.

A value-conscious shopper should certainly consider a created diamond. They are certified to be the same as natural diamonds - the same hardness, chemical composition and most importantly to the wearer, visually. It would take a certified gemologist to determine if a diamond was a laboratory grown diamond or earth grown and mined.
