You need Nail Art Supplies

If you are doing to do any creative nail art designs you will need some supplies to help you create your unique designs. The good news is that there are so many different types of things you can use to design your own fingernail or toenail art. Nail art is a form of fashion and beauty that women have loved for many, many years. Here are a few ideas to consider.

What is Nail Art?

...just a bit about what it is all about

Nail art is a form of decorating your nails whether you are decorating your fingernails or your toenails. Decorating nails with various coloring agents is something that has been useful in many countries all over the world. People have been coloring their nails for centuries in just about every culture and country you might consider. However, it was in the 1920s that nail polishes first appeared on the marketplace. The tiny bottles of colorful paint were a big hit way back then and it still is today. All those years ago, the only choice was bright flaming red. Today, the assortment of nail polish colors can just about spin your head.

We all have Revlon to thank for the beginnings of the wide assortment of colors in nail polish since they were the very first cosmetic company to capitalize on the venture of the division of the beauty industry. However, since that time many other beauty manufacturers have appeared. You can choose from a wide variety of types and colors of nail polish as well as an amazing assortment of nail art designs tools and supplies.

For instance, after applying the nail polish or polishes of your choice, you might also include nail art glitter, polymer clay or fimo slices in just about any design and colors. You might want to add some colorful nail art rhinestones, stickers, kits and so much more. Using pens is a lot of fun and you can use them to create many different and colorful designs on your nails. Of course, there are many more tools and supplies such as artificial tips, nail jewelry, full acrylic nails and many other items that you might find interesting or needful while doing your own nails at home.

Nail Care

proper nail care is essential for beautiful nails

There is just no way around it, if you want to have beautiful nails for your designs, you will need to pay attention and attend to proper nail care. However, before considering proper nail care, you must consider a proper and healthy diet.

The same is true when it involves soft, shiny hair. You are what you eat. What you eat and drink will influence your health, which includes the health of your hair and nails.

Another significant issue is the length of your nails. If you bite your nails, it is time to stop biting them by any healthy means possible. You can line 10 women up to have a designer decorate their nails and they will most likely have a nice time with all of them.

However, let us say that out of those 10 women, nine of them have very short nails and one has natural long nails. The nail designer will be thrilled to work with the longer nails than he will or she will with the shorter nails. Besides, those with naturally longer nails do not have to have the expense of nail tips or acrylic nails.

Healthy Beauty

Keeping your hands and nails clean is essential. Therefore washing and drying them regularly is most helpful. After washing and drying your hands and nails, you should apply some type of nourishing moisturizer.

There is no reason whatsoever should you ever use your nails as if they are some type of tool. Speaking of tools, anytime you are working outside or even washing dishes you should also be wearing gloves to protect your hands and nails.

It is also important to remember that your nails are living and they will need to breathe. Therefore, occasionally it is a good idea to not cover them with polish. Rather you should let them breathe to help keep them healthy and looking their best.

You should also make sure that any type of tool or supply that you use is sterile. Actually sharing your tools and supplies is much like sharing your eye shadows and lipsticks or even your toothbrush or hairbrush. Many people may do this, but it is not, the healthiest of ideas or practices.

Nail Polish

adding color and beauty

Nail polish is the first item on the list while shopping for supplies. A wide assortment of various colors are available to you. You may choose any shade or hue of color today.

However, long ago it was common for the rich to wear the dark and daring shades and hues of color. Other people who were not considered the upper class could only wear lighter shades and hues of colors. Thankfully, we have come a long, long way since that time centuries ago.

While choosing the types of polish you will wear, you will of course want to choose colors that you like or colors that can compliment your wardrobe. However, you should always keep in mind that you will get what you pay for. Some polishes will look stunning in the bottle and under the fluorescent lights in a store or salon.

However, once you get them out in the sunlight the color may seem different somehow. While choosing the colors of polish you will use, you should always do your best to choose quality products including polish and other tools and supplies.

Pens

...for all those times when you feel like coloring!

Nail art pens are really cool design tools. You can use them to make all sorts of interesting and distinctive designs on your nails. They are also the perfect choice for filling in the spaces when you are decorating your nails with other types of supplies such as rhinestones, polymer clay or fimo slices. Generally, pens will resemble the appearance of short markers with a matching color cap. You can find them locally or you might more easily find them online.

Stickers

...help you create designs...

Stickers are just one of the many different types of tools or supplies that you can use to dress up your nails.

Basically, stickers are similar to any other type of sticker you can stick on stuff. However, in the case of nail art stickers, you will apply them to your fingernails or toenails while manicuring your nails with creative designs. They are tiny and fragile; however, they are very easy to apply and like many other items once you get use to using them on a regular basis, applying them becomes second nature.

Nail stickers are available in a wide assortment of beautiful motifs. You are sure to find something that will match or compliment your nails and wardrobe.

Rhinestone = Glam

Rhinestones

Glitz and Glitter Galore!

It is no secret at all that rhinestones are a very popular items for many people for many things. However, when it involves nail art designs, these little sparkling beauties are a must have on anyone's list of tools or supplies. Most often, rhinestones are tiny, they come in a wide range of colors. You can apply them by using a pair of tweezers or by using a rhinestone picker pencil. Alternately, you can use some rhinestone tweezers.

Nail Art Kits

If you enjoy doing your own designs, you really should consider the various options available to you in stamps, stamping kits and kits. They are available in a wide range of choices as well. Now you can do your own nails at home and still look like a professional did the work. Check them out to save time and money for your design choices.

@Onlinemum3: Hi onlinemum, thanks for visiting my nail art design lens and your comments. I'd love to hear more about training to be a nail tech, if you care to build some lenses about it.

I took cosmetology and find it interesting but, I found more interest in doing makeup and nails than any other subject in the field of cosmetology.
