E.L.F liquid eyeliner review

Updated on May 8, 2014

The best liquid eyeliner ever!

I have finally found a liquid eyeliner that works perfectly for me! My main criteria is that it does not run or smudge. After buying so many different types of eyeliner, from waterproof to smudge proof to 12 hour wear, from normal pencil eyeliner to liquid eyeliner. I finally found it! Even better, it only cost me a dollar. Can you believe it, a DOLLAR!!?? In times like this where cost of living is rising and everything is getting more and more expensive, there is still makeup sold for a dollar. Who can beat that? Except that now I have extra to spend on cosmetic bags!

The epiphany

I am always on the lookout for budget, drug store makeup. I do not use a lot of make up but the only thing that I will not leave my house without, is putting on eyeliner. I exercise a lot and one of the requirements of my eyeliner is that it can withstand the exercise session without smudging. On top of that, I have Graves Disease with Thyroid Eye Disease. My eyes are constantly dry and watery (isn't that an oxymoron), sensitive to products and I wear contact lenses. Most of my eyeliners, even those that state that they are waterproof or 12 hours extended wear will smudge. The worst thing that can happen to me is coming back from a run or hike with racoon eyes. Not a pretty sight!

I chanced upon this eyeliner while at KMART. I saw the eyeliner for sale there and stopped to check it out. I have never tried liquid eyeliners before. I thought that they would smudge more easily than pencil liners. But I just had to try it, so I bought it to experiment. Like I said, it was only a dollar. Boy, was I glad I tried because it was the best dollar I had ever spent!

The quality of the product is excellent, surprisingly for the price. It also packs a very nice pigment, does not flake off, or leave spots around my face. The staying power of the eyeliner is unbelievable! I come back from running and it stays on my eyelids like its freshly put on. I have wore the eyeliner for over 12 hours and it stayed put for that amount of time. It is also easy to apply with its tapered brush and the liquid liner has a good consistency to it. You can build the thickness of the line you want to draw on as the brush is thin with good control. It also comes off easily in the shower when I cleanse my face with cetaphil.

The only cons is that it dries quickly, so it can be difficult at times to correct your mistakes. It is not waterproof, so don't go swimming with it!

Overall, this is the best liquid eyeliner that I had ever used. It wears perfectly and it is truly value for money!

The best thing about this eyeliner--It comes in different colors!

I've never tried liquid eyeliner before - always use a pencil instead. Must admit that all the examples in your pictures look great though...
