Aquamarine Engagement Rings

Updated on March 19, 2013

Aquamarine Engagement Rings

Aquamarine engagement rings are an elegant and unusual choice for your special lady. I have selected some very beautiful ones to share with you. I have tried to include different stone cuts and different price points for your convenience.

You may be looking at non diamond engagement rings because of the high price of diamonds, because your lady wants something a little different, or because you want to include a little color in the engagement ring. Any of these reasons are good! Do not feel bad if you are looking for financial reasons.

Do not be tempted to buy an artificially created diamond or other created stone for a wedding or engagement ring. The majority of women prefer genuine stones. This is a special piece of jewelry, so purchase a ring with genuine gemstones.

About Aquamarines

Aquamarine Engagement Rings

Aquamarines are the birthstone for March, but also a very popular choice for engagement rings for anyone.

Aquamarines are a type of beryl stone, which is in the same family as emerald. There is no set color for aquamarine stones. They can be quite pale, almost clear, to different shades of blue, even some with green.

The color is due to the iron content in the gemstone. The more iron in the stone, the deeper the color. Most people prefer blue aquamarines, so the stones are often heat treated to enhance the color.

Since colors can look different one monitor to another, rely on the seller's description of the aquamarine color.

About Engagement Ring Metals

Gemstone Engagement Rings

Engagement and wedding rings are usually made from 10K, 14K, or 18K gold. Rings made of 10K gold are harder than 14K, but contain less gold. 10K gold rings tend to be less expensive because the content of gold is less. Pure gold is too soft to be used for rings, so it is mixed with other metals to harden it and change its color. 18K gold is usually the highest gold content found in engagement rings.

White gold and yellow gold are the most common, but rose gold is sometimes available. White gold is currently the most popular color of gold for jewelry.

The most expensive metal seen in engagement rings is platinum. Platinum is a beautiful white metal. It is more expensive and more durable than gold.

Some rings are available in sterling silver, stainless steel, or other metals. People often buy these other metals because of metal allergies, work restrictions, cost, or environmental issues.

This is a great ring. The aquamarine is a good size and I love how the diamonds are set inside the band. This makes it sparkly without being flashy. It is unique, which is also a point in its favor.
