Aquamarines are the birthstone for March, but also a very popular choice for engagement rings for anyone.

Aquamarines are a type of beryl stone, which is in the same family as emerald. There is no set color for aquamarine stones. They can be quite pale, almost clear, to different shades of blue, even some with green.

The color is due to the iron content in the gemstone. The more iron in the stone, the deeper the color. Most people prefer blue aquamarines, so the stones are often heat treated to enhance the color.

Since colors can look different one monitor to another, rely on the seller's description of the aquamarine color.

Engagement and wedding rings are usually made from 10K, 14K, or 18K gold.
