9 Essential shoes that all women need to have in their wardrobe / closet

Updated on May 21, 2013

There are shoes that every woman would need in her closet for many different purposes. While we would like to have unlimited pair of shoes in our closet, budget is the issue and we don't want to be broke. Here is a list of nine essential shoes to have in your wardrobe / closet.

Black pumps (close toed) – These are very important shoes for you to have because it would work for work interviews, office settings, meetings and other formal events. It is very professional and appropriate for all formal and semi formal events. The heel height should not exceed three inches because you have to move around comfortably all day with these shoes.

Peep toed black pumps – These are the causal version of the close toed black pumps. You can wear it for semi formal and causal events. Peep toe black pumps are actually more comfortable because it allows more room for the feet.

Black flats – This is another classic pair of shoes that you must have in your closet. These flats are just as versatile as the close toed black pumps. On days where you want to be comfortable and professional at the same time, these black flats will be perfect.

Running / exercise shoes – Every woman needs running / exercise shoes to help us stay in the best shape possible. These shoes should be comfortable for extended period of time, have a nice cushion and are great with most outdoor activities. When you are out with the family and kids, these running / exercise shoes will be the first choice to wear.

Flat sandals – Flat sandals are perfect in the summer when you want to show off your feet. Some might say that they just want to wear high heel sandals instead. However, some clothing will not necessarily go with high heel sandals. For example, a maxi bohemian type of skirt looks best with a pair of ethnic flat sandals.

High heel sandals – These sandals are for the summer and can be paired with lots of different outfits. A knee length skirt would look very cute with a pair of high heel sandals.

Flip flops – These are everyday causal essential shoes for everyone living in Southern California and elsewhere. You can wear them to grocery shopping, hanging out with friends, going to the beach and the list goes on. They are definitely going to get used a lot.

Leather boots in classic colors like black and brown – At least one pair of boots should be in every woman's closet. A pair of black or brown leather boots that is just below the knee is a classic piece that can be worn most of the winter with your skinny jeans. It is trendy, classic and warm. You should choose the high heel version if you need a boost in height and are comfortable in heels. You should opt for a no heel version if you are tall enough (>5'6'') or are used to wearing heels.

Rain boots – A pair of rain boots is a must for all women. When it is raining, the rain boots will make sure that your pants don't get wet. In addition, you don't want to ruin any of your nice shoes. The rain boots are essential shoes to have for every woman regardless of age.
