Best eyeglasses frame for your face shape (guide for women)

Updated on January 10, 2012

It is very important to wear the right types of eyeglasses to make you look your best. Unfortunately, most people have less than perfect appearance and face shape that need accessories to accentuate their strong points and hide their flaws. Many people need to wear eyeglasses on a daily basis but choose the wrong ones. This hub is all about prescription eyeglasses frames that are suitable for your face shape.

To easily balance your face shape and make it more appealing, it is best to choose eyeglasses frame that is opposite of your face shape. I will explain more in details below.

Round faces: Those with round faces tend to look great with square shaped or other angular framed eyeglasses. Rectangle frames are the best for round faces because it will create the illusion of a longer / more structured face. The thickness of the frame depends on the size of your face. If you have a bigger face, you should select a thicker frame because it tends to make the face look smaller.

Square faces: Those with square shaped faces tend to have very strong jawlines that are square in shape. Women with this face shape tend to look more masculine than others. The eyeglasses should soften the face. The best one for those with square faces is the cat shaped eyeglasses frame because its rounded shape offsets the squareness of the jaw. Also, cat shaped eyeglasses is larger on the top which emphasize the upper part of your face and is very feminine by design. You definitely don't want something that emphasize your strong jawline. This frame is also very modern, chic and in style right now.

Oblong faces: Those with oblong faces should try to shorten their faces through eyeglasses frames. The best bet is an oval or rounded oversized pair of eyeglasses with black rims. It is very trendy and offsets the long face very easily.

Oval faces: You are very lucky because most eyeglasses frame of different shapes will suit you. It is more or less up to you to decide which eyeglasses frame you want to get. Those that want to look very sharp should get rectangle shaped glasses. A cat shaped eyeglasses is a bit more playful and feminine. While the oval oversized eyeglasses is very trendy and chic. Whatever you select should suit your personality. When you feel beautiful, you will radiate that energy to people around you.

This hub was so very useful! Thank you--I have ALWAYS wondered at this subject. And never have the right friend around to tell me "Do these look good on me?" Now I know, go for the oval/oversized ones. I'm so excited to go buy a new pair of glasses.
