What is fashion week?

According to Wikipedia (November 2013), A fashion week is a fashion industry event, lasting approximately one week, which allows fashion designers, brands or "houses" to display their latest collections in runway shows and buyers and the media to take a look at the latest trends. Most importantly, these events let the industry know what's "in" and what's "out" for the season.

Fashion Week Videos

Fashion week is a very visual experience. If you can not attend an event, viewing photos is a wonderful alternative. However, the first choice should be "video". Still photographs of fashion are typically excellent ways to view a collection, but you really need to watch a fashion week video to capture the full effect. It is important to watch how the models walk the runway. Equally important is the sounds of the music as well as the excitement of the audience.

Event Organizers

If you are planning a special event it is important to spread the word so that people are aware of your plans. Here are a few key methods to spread the fashion news:

  • Public Relations - hire a PR firm to promote your event.
  • Press Release Services - the internet provides numerous resources to distribute your companies press release. Try companies such as PR.com, PRNewswire.com, PRWeb.com, and others.
  • Fashion Blogs - fashionistas are often eager for news about fashion. If you provide dates, description, and possibly photos from the event, they will most likely publish for you.

Each year the fashion industry has hundreds of different fashion events. Some are large internationally recognized events that receive a great deal of press. Others are much smaller with only a handful of people in attendance. Regardless of the size of the event, each one is very important to the host.

If you are planning a fashion event and need to spread the word about the event, you can submit news to various fashion blogs, newspapers, and magazines. In addition, it is a good idea to share your information on social media.

Event organizers are welcome to join the Fashion Week community on Google+.
