Find Cheap Wedding Dresses

Updated on September 21, 2014

Should you Consider Finding a Cheap Wedding Dress?

You're dreaming of a perfect, beautiful dress for your wedding. What if I told you that you can find a cheap wedding dress that is just as wonderful as the dress of your dreams?

Like many brides, you may have a fairytale vision of their wedding...and the wedding dress plays a big role in that dream. Until that dream comes to a halt when you take your budget into consideration.

It is then that you must make some tough decisions. Buy the designer dress you have dreamed of, but scrimp on other aspects of the wedding? Or have money available for things like more guests and a photographer who will capture that moment in pictures forever that can be shared and viewed everyday?

If you choose to get a wedding dress that is cheap there is no need to feel like you are missing out. You can manage to get a beautiful dress for a bargain price. Today there are so many options for brides. They can find inexpensive wedding dresses that are beautiful and quality made (but beware of those that are actually poor quality). In fact, now there are many online retailers selling actual designer dresses at a fraction of the original cost.

Here are some ways to find some great, but still affordable, wedding dresses!

Find Affordable Wedding Dresses at Amazon

One option for finding a wedding dresses at low prices is to look at the popular website Amazon.com.

At Amazon you can choose filters, shown on the left side of their webpage, to narrow the options to what you are looking for. At this link I have set a filter to show only wedding dresses in the price range from $100 to $500.

Note that there will be some irrelevant products sneaking into the results (you might find things like hats or shawls listed instead of dresses, or dresses for other member of the wedding party, for example). But you can still find some great deals this way.

To the left is a very inexpensive wedding dresses I found on Amazon that is quite pretty and has good reviews.

Consider Buying a Used Wedding Dress

It may not be what you dreamed of, but if you are on a tight budget you can often easily find used wedding dresses (for much lower prices than what you would get new) by looking at thrift shops, or online classifieds like craigslist.

If you think about it, a wedding dress is only worn once. So even if you buy a used wedding dress it most likely has only been worn once, so it is likely to be in very good shape.

If you find something online make sure to talk to the seller and ask specific questions about the state of the dress. Find out whether it’s been cleaned, altered, stained.

If you buy a dress online, try to use PayPal or a credit card so you have some protection from fraud. Never just send cash. Also do not use a debit card, as a credit card provides you more protection than a debit card does.

How to Find Cheap Wedding Dresses at Ebay

A great place to find wedding dresses on a small budget

It's true. You can find anything on eBay. This includes inexpensive wedding dresses. You can find just about any type of dress you can think of. And you can find them both new and used.

Dresses on eBay can range from a few dollars to thousands.

When searching eBay be specific. Type in exactly what you are looking for. The more specific your search terms the more likely you are to find something that is exactly what you are looking for. For example, "white a-line tea length dress" will more likely yield results you are looking for than wedding dresses."

Some people are concerned about getting scammed on eBay. Most of the sellers on eBay are honest quality people.

Here are some great tips to purchasing wedding dresses on eBay.

Inexpensive Wedding Dresses On Ebay

These are some of the wedding dresses that come up for a simple search of white wedding dresses. Chances are you can get one you like for a bargain.

You can narrow your search to find the exact dress you are looking for. For example, if you are looking for an A Line dress you can easily include A Line in your search term on eBay.

Vintage Wedding Dresses

Vintage wedding dresses are a cool trend amongst some right now. I know I love them and going this route is a favorite of mine. If you love a certain time period such as the 50s or 60s getting a dress (whether it was originally a wedding dress or maybe was an evening gown, cocktail dress or something else) from that era might be a good way to get a unique but inexpensive dress for your special day. Not all vintage wedding dresses will be a bargain though.

Shocking Alternatives to a Wedding Gown!

Why not use a Bridesmaid's Dress?

Yes, a bridesmaid's dress can be used as a cheap alternative to a wedding dress!

This one surprised me, but it’s a great idea.

Look through the bridesmaid’s dresses to wear as your wedding dress. Bridesmaid dresses are usually less expensive than a wedding dress and there are some amazing and beautiful ones out there (not all bridesmaid dresses are bad). If you can find one you like you can often order it in white, off white or beige.

If you are a little more daring you can even get a wedding dress in just about any color you can imagine.

You can save a lot of money by choosing a bridesmaids dress as your wedding dress.

Some other alternatives are to look at... Cocktail dresses and evening gowns.

If you are having a beach wedding of course a simpler, more casual dress of cotton or lined might be just the thing. Try searching for keywords like "white beach dress" and see what you find.

And...prom dresses. Yeah, they tend to have a young flair that might not be suitable for many brides. But you never know...you might just find one that suits you.

Have you been able to find any cheap wedding dresses that you love? I’d love to hear if you looked for any for your wedding. If you did, how did it go? If not, what did you do to manage your budget for the wedding?

What do you think? Is a cheap wedding dress worth it? - Would you think of buying one?
