    How often should you wash your hair?

    I heard its good for the hair to be washed not that often and that the hair gets more grease faster if you wash the hair with shampoo to often. How often do you wash your hair?

    Some advise against frequent shampooing, pointing out it leads to overproduction of sebum to compensate for its constant removal. Others say shampooing is necessary to prevent sebum from collecting in the pores and hair follicles and leading to skin problems like acne. Basically, It's a personal choice. I choose to wash mine daily because of the sebum build up can cause scalp and skin problems. Merry Christmas!

    Ideally, you don't want to overwash the hair.  Doing so causes imbalances that lead to the overproduction of sebum, which causes oily hair, which causes you to shampoo more etc.  It's a vicious circle.  Once you learn to cut back you'll find after everything regulates itself you shouldn't need to shampoo very often.  It's a myth that hair gets so dirty you have to wash it all the time - it truly doesn't.  You can also use dry shampoo or corn starch brushed through the hair to absorb excess oils.  I shampoo about twice a week except for in the summer if I am sweating a lot etc.  If you put a lot of styling products in your hair etc. you may need to do so more often than that.  It also depends on your hair - ethnic hair for example doesn't need to be washed as often and can actually lead to more breakage and other problems.  very thin hair that gets weighed down by products may need a bit more washing to keep it bouncy and fuller.  It really comes down to what works for the individual, but daily shampooing is unhealthy for the hair.

    At least every other day. For a great look that you want people to really notice that you always look fresh and collected, every day.

    Everyone's body is different, so you will have to find the frequency that works for you.  Experiment with washing it less often or more often and see how your hair looks and notice how your scalp feels.  The shampoo you use can also make a difference.

    A hairdresser once told me that because I have curly hair, I should use conditioner regularly, but NEVER use shampoo. That sounded kind of icky to me, so I didn't follow his advice. Usually, I condition it every day, and use shampoo about twice a week. I've heard that curly hair tends to dry out if you shampoo it too often.

    It depends on the type of hair you have. I wouldn’t wash it more than once a day and would recommend against that if you have dry hair or dry skin/scalp. It could end up damaging your hair and head to over do it.

    I think it depends on how active you are. If you work out daily and sweat a lot, I think you should was your hair with shampoo and conditioner twice a week and plain water once a day. If you are not that active, then I think a shampoo and conditioner once or twice a week is fine.
