I went to my friend's wedding the other day and I honestly was flabbergasted for the entire event. She had on one of the ugliest dresses I have ever seen. I couldnt believe that her relatives and friends allowed her to buy that hideous gown. I couldnt believe that such a gown actually existed. So it made me wonder how many hideous gowns are there that people buy believing it looking good on them when in the real world it isnt?
Ohh it can't be as bad as the one I saw, for starters the ceremony was in the registry office (I didn't think they wore dresses when getting married in a registry office) anyway, so this woman has a really petite frame but the dress was sooooo skin tight she actually looked as if she had rolls (I'm sure she doesn't) the dress wasn't the worst, the shoes were hideous. They were a silver colour with, well I'm not really sure what but they looked like metal charms hanging from them, held up by a plastic heel- very strange, each to their own I suppose lol.
I had an aunt who had a dress custom-made for her wedding and the some of the construction and stitching was just awful. My mom and I kept out comments to ourselves until we got in the car after the ceremony.
I tend to think wedding gowns overall are rather ugly, so I'm sure it happens a lot more than anyone might imagine.
You said a mouthful:

The only meringues I like are made from egg white and sugar and are eaten...
I've found everything is beautiful - when it's in the right environment. Unfortunately too many brides believe a beautiful dress not designed for their particular body type/color etc or for their particular venue will "magically" transform them into a fairy princess. Yep, I've seen a lot of "ugly" dresses and inappropriate dresses.
This is sad but many women who are forced to wear their old grandmother's or mother's dresses usually look awful and outdated!
Mothers and grandmothers out there - don't force your daughters to wear your wedding dress. It's their day, make them happy and let them buy what they love to make new memories!
So true. The dresses may have been beautiful back than, but not as beautiful as picking out your own gown. And that scratchy material that was used in the older bridal dresses. Don't force daughters to wear your old gowns, I couldn't agree more.
Most brides today fall under the pressures of well meaning families and want desperately to please them but most forget that it's their special day and that the dress is symbolic of them starting a new clean life with their husbands. So, that is why it's so important to take the time out to enjoy and play with the wedding planning process. Most guys right before the weddings are seen golfing or playing basketball. It's high time for the women to step up and not be so stressed out with all the little details. Sometimes you get so stressed out by your relatives and friends, you end up being a victim of the ugly dress monster!!
I went to a bridal fayre last year as a vendor (not wedding dresses) and there seemed to be a fashion for big fabric flowers stuck all over the dress, it was horrible.
I think most women are so happy on their wedding day that it doesn't matter what they wear, they look georgeous.
My grandfather use to always ask me with every bride, with so many brides all so beautiful, where did all the ugly wives come from?
Come on BP... I love that one I would wear it just to see the looks on the groom's mom and gradma, not to mention the priest LOL
Are you sure she wasn't going to a costume party, blondepoet?

Have you ever seen a ghost?Have you ever had the feeling that you're not alone yet knowing no one is there: seen something you know is not of the living world? Felt a shiver run down your spine; sensed a spirit; seen a ghost?

Do you love wedding dress and what kind of wedding dress would you like to wear on your wedding day?

Hi, I got married a few weeks ago and have just heard that my dress is ready to be collected from the dry cleaners. It's a beautiful dress that I loved wearing but I am now daunted by the prospect of having to store it. It's so lovely that it seems a shame to keep it in a box under the bed. Some of...
