Classic Hairstyles

Article By Sharon Stajda

The Ponytail, the Bun, and the Bob continue to hold their place when it comes to hairstyles that defy time.

Women today truly want modern hairdos in the sense that they should look good, but still want quick easy hairdos that can fit into a hectic lifestyle. Yet, at the same time, we also want hairstyles that are somewhat classic, and work to highlight our femininity and personalities. Let's face it we want all that, and more! The classic hairstyles like the bun, bob, and ponytail are styles that have been around for many years. Today we have learned to tweak and updated these classic hairstyles and make them our own.

Let's consider - Without a doubt, hair is the most important changeable feature we have. We as women are lucky, today no one hairstyle is considered the fashion of the day. Hairstyles run the gamut of possibility. The old rules that once dominated our thinking in regard to hairstyles have become passe. We no longer even consider it an unshakable truth that a face must be oval to be beautiful. That all hairstyles we chose should try to create that perfect oval effect. Today's women seem to choose a hairstyle by what suits her likes, and sometimes simply by whats on trend.

The Bun Hairstyle So Chic ...

Long Waves

Love long flowing hairstyles? If you do, most likely you're a glamour girl! Oh yes, you are!

The long and wavy locks point to old Hollywood glamour. " Think Lauren Bacall in the 30's". Parted neatly at the side and flowing down into soft curls and waves, with one side tucked demurely behind the ear. This look has been around a very long time, and will never actually go away.

The Bun

A Bun or Chignons is chic and so easy to do for a woman that wants a fast but fabulous hairstyle. A chignon can offer a duel look, crisp and chic from the front, while romantically full at the back of the head. The chignon can be worn at the top of the head right down to the nape of the neck.

Even though the chignon gets revamped a bit every few years, this classically sophisticated hairdo is not going anywhere.

The Ponytail - can be "cute or very chic"...

The popular classic ponytail

The ponytail is one of the biggest trends for this season. Ponytails of all kinds, all done up with or without bangs. Pulled back with a bit of gel to slightly separate pieces of hair as it's swept back to gives a pieced casual look or just pulled back smoothly to give a very pulled together look, the ponytail can be a girl's best friend. Wear it mid-back of the head or just at the nape of the neck. The ponytail keeps its place as number one hairstyle that never goes out of style.

The center part has trended again ...

The center part. The center part has become very popular over the past few years. Wheather your hair is long or mid-length, straight or curly try a mid part. A center part look especially great on ironed long hair or soft flowing curls.

Just Curious...

Which classic hairstyle do you prefer?

Hair is a great physical accessory :). I love the ponytail. It saves me all the time when I'm in a hurry, and with today's gels, it can look wet or dry.
